WCHA First Round - UNO at SCSU

Re: WCHA First Round - UNO at SCSU

I'll take Hanowski over all the following: Jaden Schwartz, Mark Zengerle, Nick Bjugstad and Oleksuk... that's right, the guy the homer Ciske had on his 1st team. With Schwartz, that was the second highest scoring team in the WCHA, and that helps him rack up assists, and his 5 more points is impressive, but six more goals than Jaden isn't minor... its half of Jaden's. Hanowski scored 150% of the goals Jaden did, even highe percentage than Zengerle's 11. B-Jugs had less goals AND points than Hanowski on a higher scoring team, and Oleksuk benefitted from playing on that team a lot and you shouldn't be a first team forward if you are 3rd on your team in goals and points.

I'd have gone 1st Team Nelson, Zucker, J. Conn, 2nd Team D. Shore, Hanowski, and Brown and 3rd team Rylan Schwartz, B-Jugs and Oleksuk.

You've been sharing that weed from Skeets again, haven't you?

Re: WCHA First Round - UNO at SCSU

Hey, how much are tickets for this weekend's games for students and for general admission?

Re: WCHA First Round - UNO at SCSU

I know quite a few alums from the cities that are going because of ticket price. If this doesn't get the dumb***** locals to go to the games nothing will......

I was able to talk my nephews into coming with us to their first college hockey game. At $12 a ticket how can you go wrong. There are lot of people posting on facebook, etc. that they are making the trip up. Should be a great time.

Re: WCHA First Round - UNO at SCSU

Have they always been the same price for students or non students?

Way back when in my day playoff tickets were something like $5 for students and $8 or non students. The reason they are cheap is because the league sets the price and it is the same at every arena league wide. It wasn't a big deal in past years because there use to be so many more season ticket holders and less tickets available. I pay more for my tickets because I am season ticket holder, but I also pay less than face value on all other games.

Re: WCHA First Round - UNO at SCSU

I'll ask this.
What happened to Faulkner?
3rd team league last year, lost his job this year.

That is one of the more interesting aspects of our whole season.

I think everybody got engrossed last year in those 6 shutouts he had. His Goals Against and Save Percentage really weren't all that good and, this year, with our struggles on defense, I think he sorta got exposed. He and Massa have basically split the playing time available this season and, statistically, it isn't even a contest. Massa has been far better. UNO is 5-8-2 with Faulkner between the pipes and his Save Percentage is horrendous, at .881, and his Goals Against Average is an equally stomach turning 2.99!!! Faulkner is listed as a senior, but, he does have a year of eligibility left and there has been talk that he will not be back to use it.

If UNO is going to be a Frozen 4 team next year or the year after (and I have seen posters on this board that think that might be the case) the goaltending has to improve from where it's been. Massa at least has had a decent freshmen year to build on.

If you could make trades in college hockey, then Mike Lee would soon be a UNO Maverick. Coach Blais has had a public man-crush on him for some time. He has said he thinks Lee is so good he might get you guys to the Frozen 4! Only one year left to do it (unless you are planing on winning the WCHA tourney this year).

As an aside to all this, as long as we are talking goalies, Coach Blais has had a propensity this year to pull the goalies with as much as 6 or 7 minutes left in the game, particularly if we have been down by two goals. We actually got whistled down for a too-many-men-on-the-ice penalty against UMD in our Friday night game with them here in Omaha because Coach Blais pulled the goalie with more than 6 minutes left. The refs didn't see this and had to reverse the call (with egg on their face after the game explaining that they would have had no idea that we might have pulled our goalie that soon, so, they hadn't even noticed him not being in the net). Hopefully, we aren't in any situation dictating our doing this at the NHC this weekend.

People were too focused on his six shutouts? Weren't you the one arguing he should have been higher up on the All-WCHA team?

So, in this trade where UNO gets Mike Lee, what does SCSU get?

Will he be moving to a nice retirement village in Mesa?

Re: WCHA First Round - UNO at SCSU

Do the rest of the Mavericks respond to that goalie, with "yes, massa, no massa, whatever you say, massa?

Re: WCHA First Round - UNO at SCSU

Busted. Guilty as charged. Ahh, in retrospect.........

It's funny how easy it is to look back and say why didn't I see that, but at the time it wasn't.:D At least you admit you were wrong. there are a few Husky posters that would fight until they were blue in the face saying they were still right.:D
