WCHA First Round - UNO at SCSU

Re: WCHA First Round - UNO at SCSU

Expect that the Eagle Street Grille (across the street from the Xcel Energy Center) will, again, be the designated site for the St. Cloud State University pre-game social on Thursday, March 15, 2012.

Re: WCHA First Round - UNO at SCSU

I'll be in St. Paul on Thursday with the band (keeping my fingers crossed that we get asked to go play). Looking forwards to playing for the fans at the Eagle Street Grille and playing at the game. :D

Hopefully we can get back to the title game. The way this team has been playing, it isn't as long a shot as people might think. What a surprising run by this team.

Not a long shot at all, I couldn't pick a clear cut Broodmoar winner. All in it are playing very good hockey. Including the winner of the DU/UW game tomorrow.

No. At least, not at this point in time. I believe you can watch online though through DU's Pioneer Vision (PPV). It would be nice if Root would pick it up though.

That would be great if Root picked it up but they seem to like to play anything other than college hockey unless its a Friday night. :(

Re: WCHA First Round - UNO at SCSU

Go Badgers! At least with UW in there, we can hear a somewhat good band. Oh, and Tech too!

I don't want to play NoDak.

Re: WCHA First Round - UNO at SCSU

Congratulations, Huskies and Husky fans. You're a great-looking team right now and the turnaround has to have been a lot of fun for you. See you in Saint Paul.

Re: WCHA First Round - UNO at SCSU

Well we're 2-4-2 against UNO in the last two years but we won the two that matter!

UNO fans, you guys had a nice start to your WCHA tenure but starting with last year's playoffs been kinda downhill. Do yourselves a favor, buy Final Five tickets for next year regardless of how the team's doing, this isn't a tournament that you wanna listen to us talk about forever and you never got to experience.

Make sure you go at least once, cause its looking like your team may not ever go.

Re: WCHA First Round - UNO at SCSU

I'll take Hanowski over all the following: Jaden Schwartz, Mark Zengerle, Nick Bjugstad and Oleksuk... that's right, the guy the homer Ciske had on his 1st team. With Schwartz, that was the second highest scoring team in the WCHA, and that helps him rack up assists, and his 5 more points is impressive, but six more goals than Jaden isn't minor... its half of Jaden's. Hanowski scored 150% of the goals Jaden did, even highe percentage than Zengerle's 11. B-Jugs had less goals AND points than Hanowski on a higher scoring team, and Oleksuk benefitted from playing on that team a lot and you shouldn't be a first team forward if you are 3rd on your team in goals and points.

I'd have gone 1st Team Nelson, Zucker, J. Conn, 2nd Team D. Shore, Hanowski, and Brown and 3rd team Rylan Schwartz, B-Jugs and Oleksuk.

I agree with you on Bjugstad. He's one of the better players on the team that won the league. That alone will get you votes. Should he be all-conference? Maybe. If you'd said Brock Nelson, I may agree with you also. He score did score a ton of goals this year on a top ten offensive team. That alone doesn't necessarily make you all-conference though. Schwartz played in eight less games than Hanowski- I'm guessing his commitment to Team Canada got in the way of some of his college games and they didn't get the extra two games for going to Anchorage like St. Cloud did. Zengerle and Oleksuk are fifty point guys and regardless whether or not they look at non-conference stats when voting, they are still fifty point guys. Fifty point guys make all-conference teams.

Seriously? SERIOUSLY?

You're certainly entitled to your opinion but given the almost all underclassmen talent level on this team, the recruiting class we have coming in (that is not yet complete, though), and the credentials of our coaching staff, I have hard time believing we aren't going to acquit ourselves a tad better next season with another year's experience that all our Freshmen and Sophomores have gotten this season. I think UNO is probably an NCAA tournament team again next season. I'll gladly eat crow if I am wrong but I love the future of this team both next season and the season after. We got victimized by a lot of bad luck this season as well as injuries besides Coach Blais kicking the arguably best-player-senior-captain off our team mid-season. UNO started the season 1-3 without Hudson who was suspended at the start of the season, too, and then went 8-5-3 after he returned. After he was booted for good? 6-13-6. His loss gut-punched a few-and-far-between leaders team. I think this season was sort of an anomaly for us and I'll be pretty surprised if we do anything next season that approximates this one.

That said. Season. Over.

Congrats to SCSU.

Shouldn't you and the Megnas be looking for someone to fill your golf foursome? Or you and Faulkner could have a Matlock marathon, you'll have to teach him how to use a DVD player.

I never said you guys would suck next year, I said you're 0 for 2 in making the Final Five and 0 for 5 in tournaments not named Stampede and Gold Rush since joining the WCHA. You guys better get going and I know you guys have talent but if your goaltending isn't any more consistent you likely will not be visiting St. Paul next year either
