WCHA First Round - Denver and Wisconsin in thin air

Re: WCHA First Round - Denver and Wisconsin in thin air

I just saw the Wisconsin team bus up near I-70 and CO Blvd. Took me a bit by surprise.

How did you know it was the Wisconsin team bus, was it swerving?

25 guys standing by the side of the road in Wisconsin warm-up suits drinking from a gas can and waiting their turn with the dead deer? ;)

It's a sad world that doesn't know the difference between gas and paint thinner.

Wouldn't they fly? Unless, of course, they wanted to take the scenic trip through Nebraska. ;)

There is a gas can night at a bar in my hometown, if it fits under the tap you can fill it up for $5 so it's not that I don't know Wisconsin prefers paint thinner over gas I just thought plastic cans were easier to drink from.

This is what took me by surprise. I couldn't figure that out. But it was a huge white bus, that said something like Wisconsin Badgers Athletics and had a huge picture of Bucky on the side, and on the front, the little digital readout thingy above the windshield said UW Hockey.

They take a charter flight to Denver. But they send the equipment manager with all the teams gear on the bus after practice on Wednesday night. That's how they do it on all trips (except Alaska) that they fly.

That was the only thing I could come up with. It didn't (and doesn't) make sense to me, but it was the only explanation I could imagine.

And for the record, if they left Wednesday evening, they made good time for me to see them about 3:30 today.

What doesn't make sense? They need transportation when they are in Denver. It must be cheaper to send the bus with all their equipment, than rent a bus locally and send all their equipment on the plane.

Chuck, they are on the wrong side of town. Maybe the driver got lost,

Hmm... It must be. I wouldn't have thought so, though.

And viz, I thought about the neighborhood, too. My guess as to why the bus was where it was (40th-ish and CO Blvd) involved the team staying at a Hotel on CO, which I feel like I have heard is common for teams visiting us. So my guess is either a) the bus was just getting into town or b) had just picked up the team at the airport. Either way, if I were from out of town, heading to a hotel on S CO Blvd, I would get off I-70 at CO and head south. (Not how I would do it myself, but looking at a map, it would be the most direct and certainly the simplest route.)

Really wish this series was on TV because I'd like to DVR it. Should be a really good series. I have a feeling UW is gonna upset.

Re: WCHA First Round - Denver and Wisconsin in thin air

Shocked at how many people think Wisconsin will win this series. I think Denver rolls this weekend, somewhere along the lines of 4-1, 5-2 .

Re: WCHA First Round - Denver and Wisconsin in thin air

That being said I am nervous about this series. Definitely have enough wine in stock for 2 games, but I really don't know whether it will stretch for 3. So Pios win it in 2!

Re: WCHA First Round - Denver and Wisconsin in thin air

The Badgers will make at least one game close.
