UVM 2018-19: This is so sad Alex play Esposito

Re: UVM 2018-19: This is so sad Alex play Esposito

Kind of like week 4 of the NFL preseason...

Random thoughts:
- No injuries!
- It was great seeing passes through the neutral zone and dropping the puck back to the D instead of dumping it into the offensive zone
- Glad Harmon got some playing time.
- Carter Long (other than the first goal) played really well
- So did Ace Cowans
- A couple of the other returning forwards need to skate harder when backchecking. Stop skating next to the guy with the puck. Make a play.
- Puck movement looked much improved compared to this time last year. Beginnings of a transition to more of a possession based strategy?
- Laurentian's goalie had a good night
- This year's season tickets are too big. They don't fit into the utility knife pocket of my pants :)
- Burlington Bagel Bakery has upped their game - 6 free bagels when you buy a cup of coffee!

Disclaimer: Had to leave at the end of the second period because it was a school night for mini-j24vt

Agree with much of what you've said (and while I'm glad Harmon got to play he was pretty shaky and I don't know what that puckhandling was on that second goal). Honestly surprised student turnout was so good last night given that it was a Thursday exhibition too, but the free cowbells probably helped lol

I agree about the student turnout and meant to include it in my list.

Solid first period from the Catamounts. Won a lot of the 50/50 battles for pucks. Was the stronger, faster team for sure through 20 minutes. Like the way Martin Fréchette plays.

Lekkas wasn’t really challenged much. Quinnipiac had a breakaway late that the forward missed the net on the backhand.

Shots on goal 9-7 UVM. Catamounts lead 1-0 on goal by Lodermeier. Looked like he beat Petruzzelli between the arm and body coming across the crease side to side.

TONS of students here. Sending them to the overflow seating.

Quinnipiac dominated the 2nd period but Lekkas was outstanding, including two really nice back to back stops at point blank range with 2 Quinnipiac forwards right on top of him.

Still 1-0 go cats go heading to the third. UVM needs to pick up the intensity again like the first to gain momentum back.

Let me be the first to say this year: Win against Michigan or not, Kevin Sneedon is not a D1 level coach. He has no place being part of this hockey program, and the single best thing that this program can do to increase its chances of long term success is to Fire Sneddon.

WTH the women gave up a game tying goal to the Q at 19:28 and now this....Is there a Q ghost in the building???

Re: UVM 2018-19: This is so sad Alex play Esposito

That one stung. I'll talk about it on the blog later, but there are two paths this team can take with a bye week coming up...

edit: blog will be up tomorrow, i am knackered

Glad I didn't restart the flame fest with UMLOL. They would be crucifying me right now...

Heartbreaking loss for the team. Love the puck movement and possession. Lodermeier line needs more ice time.

I hope the coaching staff doesn’t over react and go back into the defensive shell they were using last year. Lots of positives to take away.

I would think about splitting up Evers and Long. Long is still adjusting and Evers has struggled the last couple games.

Food for thought:

UVM 5 Michigan 2
US U-18 6 Michigan 3
Minnesota 7 US U-18 1

Takeaway = Michigan not good

Laurentian 4 UVM 1
Cornell 6 Laurentian 1

Takeaway = Laurentian not good

According to Ted Ryan's BFP recap, Sneddon was screaming for a timeout before the faceoff that led to the tying goal
