Utica University 2024-25 - Retooled and Reloaded

After 2: Oswego 1 - Stevenson 2
and
Still 1-1 in Tampa after 2

Edit:

Utica Women take the lead late in the game and then add an ENG to take the 3-1 win over Norwich in Tampa.

Wow, wow, wow...

I don't remember such poor D play from Utica, ever.

Yeah, UNE skates a good first line, but what was up with the complete loss of basic discipline, time and time again?

UU better get it together in its own end, and at the blue line.

Not going to get anywhere near the FF, if this sloppy excuse for defense continues.

That was ugly, but found a way to win. Landsberger should be the starter until proven otherwise, no question about it.

You think?

I wouldn't hang anything on Roberts.

He was hung out to dry for most of the GA, and I have to assume that Heenan employed yet another "system" (lets send all the D across the ice for no apparent reason) which predictably fell on its face. Seen that sort of thing every so often for 24 years.

JHC, Utica has plenty of talent. There is no reason for Heenan to fix what ain't broke. He fucks himself on a regular basis, and it's getting old.

It wasn’t a system, what you are looking past is the D and goaltending on this team is simply below average. The D turn the puck over constantly. And yes, I would be surprised if we see much more of Roberts before Christmas.

Refreshing, they looked strong tonight. Right from puck drop, it wasn’t close.

No it wasn't. And Stevenson isn't a bad team.

As far as the 'tending goes, Roberts has looked solid to me all year, but the D was putrid last night. That game has destroyed his save % thus far.

Not giving up on him at all, but yeah, maybe Landsberger should be the #1 for the short term, anyway.

They need to be a 1A and 1B by committee for now. They're both good and they both have their moments of not, but you need to ride the hot hand for the time being

Just wondering if Roberts has completely recovered from his surgery.

He was All-World last season.

Landsberger was better statistically last year too.

That's misleading though, look at the games he started last year:

Wilkes
Manhattanville
Neumann
Leb Valley
Nazareth
King's
Alvernia
Arcadia x2

2 of those games were against teams who were .500 or better overall, so yes the numbers are better on paper, but Landsberger only saw 8 minutes vs Adrian, didn't see Stevenson, didn't see Elmira, didn't see Hobart, that does matter

He had a great save %, if memory serves, but yeah, he saw limited action vs. less than great competition.

Still, a very capable backup last year.

Utica should be OK in goal, but the D does take some shifts off. UU's gotta clean that up.

The PWR means nothing, they've switched the metrics used to determine at large bids and seeding

Is it a decent tool to get an idea, yes, but it's not official at all

Here we go again with the smoky room.

The PW was just fine- there haven't been "cliffs" for years- but the D-3 selection committee just has to get its greasy fingers all over the process.

It's utterly ironic that a sport in which nearly every team loses money is less transparent than the sports which turn a profit.

I bet that the selections will mirror the PW, the KRACH and the RPI.

It'll just boil-down to the siting, as per usual.

No smoky room. It's an objective (once the dials are set) ranking measure just like the PWR.
