Utica University 2022-23: Is This The Year?

This has been a fascinating study in psychology and mob mentality. Something that could have been answered in 30 seconds has dragged on for almost two years because neither Fishman or any of you other Utica guys can't defend a position taken. So just pillory the guy asking the question, call him names and ignore unfounded claims. I can't believe New York didn't go for Trump in 2020 with this thinking.

I’m a Norwich fan. I also do not have a dog in this fight. I read this thread, and many others, because I love college hockey.

You’re right in stating this has become a fascinating study in psychology. You’ve been interrupting this thread for close to two years to repeatedly ask a question you know damn well you aren’t going to get an answer to. You insult anyone who pushes back on you. Somehow, you think you’re the “good guy” here.

Perhaps the most important question is, why did Fishman’s “offhand” remark about Utica being a “perennial national power” disturb you to the point of harassing him, and hijacking a thread for so long? You could’ve had a laugh, mocked it with your friends (if you have any) and moved on with your life.

You call the Utica posters dumb, but your actions are starting to resemble an idiot college sports zealot who gets into fistfights in Wal Mart parking lots over rivalry game results.

Let it go. Claim a “win”. Move on with your life. Enjoy the 2022-23 season.

We watched UU v. the U-18 team tonight. I think it's the 3rd time we saw a National team play Utica (even a U-17 team or two), and it's looked pretty-much the same every time... As in, another spanking.

Half those kids don't even shave yet, but what skills. And high-school age boys playing against 22-23 YO's, and dominating..? Whoa.

Kind of a reality-check vis-a-vis facing even just a *good* D-3 team, never mind a mighty perennial power such as Utica.

Good exhibition for sure, but very happy that it didn't count.

Playing NTDP will give you a reality check. Big difference between kids just trying to graduate and kids trying to get drafted first round in the NHL draft

This.

Every single player on the U-18 team this year (except the backup goalie) is already committed to a top flight D1 program.

I saw them play at RIT. Impressive.

This was definitely one of the better U-18 USA teams Utica has played, and it showed, those kids have heaps of talent

I believe the Pioneers are 3-2 all time against the U-18 Nationals, which all in all feels like a success, onto 2023!

Fixed your post. (Most all the Wisconsin posters on the D-I parts are calling for regime change in Madison)

Where did I call anyone in here dumb? If you are referring to me calling posters cognitively dissonant, that has absolutely zero to do with intelligence.

Is this guy still going? Dude doesn't learn his lesson I guess

It's not even fun to retort anymore because everyone here knows how much of a jerkoff he has been the last TWO YEARS, it feels like going after the low hanging fruit

I seem to recall an U-17 team walloping a pretty good UC team around 10 years ago, 7-2 or so?

As much as we like to brag about our humble D-3 teams, this sort of thing gives us some perspective.

It's fine to play in D-3, for sure, but D-3 is the dregs of college hockey, and those high school kids remind us of that almost every season.

Whats the latest word on the potential D1 move?

I don't know any parents of this year's crop. (Not that parents are necessarily accurate sources of information, anyway.)

There's a poster or two who seems to be connected, though. Maybe we'll hear from them.

From what I've heard, it's a lot of hurry up and wait sort of things. The issue of the Atlantic not wanting to expand or split up at the moment is also an issue in terms of where they would end up

I'm not picking a fight here; I'm simply curious... Do you think it's a good idea fro UU to join the AHA?

Might not hear anything until they get a new president in place and they get a chance to review it. Unless there is someone on the board of Trustees really pushing for an athletics upgrade not a lot of outgoing Presidents would saddle there incoming replacement with that big of a hurdle and financial handcuff as a lame duck.

Quite the opposite. Current pres is a big supporter and wants to get it wrapped up before she leaves.

Good point, but if anyone knows which search firm they are using for there presidential search generally for this level of an academic position the search firm has a packet they provide "qualified" applicants I would love to see what that packet say about athletics.
