Utica University 2022-23: Is This The Year?

Watching the Pioneers from just a bit West of Utica. The team looks very strong and the only loses were to Adrian. Impressive last outing.

Yup The U dominated, can't argue that, didnt test the net minder much so not sure on that, missed the last minutes of the game as college football was getting interesting and the game, not so much....

Gotta give Schell his props, in any case. That game might well have been an embarrassing rout if he hadn't played so well.

I think the whole thing has been, once the team clicks, they're going to be dominant, and I'm pretty sure we're getting close to that point. And with the schedule Utica has remaining, which includes (with current PWR rankings):

Nazareth - 36
Manhattanville - 42
Alvernia - 49
Arcadia - 69
Lebanon Valley - 75
Neumann - 78
King’s - 80

I think running the table at this point has a high possibility if they play at the level they played at last night

I was thinking the same thing. Reminds me a bit of the Covid year, when UC lost a couple of early games, then won like 22 or so in a row, got the #1 overall seed, then had the PS abruptly shut-down. (Made sense at the time, truly.)

Not an impressive SOS going forward, but winning-out will garner a bunch of PWR love, especially if Adrian starts looking like Adrian again... Ditto for OSU.

Dear Bartman:

We hate Hobart.

Sincerely, the Utica fan base.

(;P, but it's true.)

But will they win an NCAA Tournament game for a change, and perhaps justify those "perennial national power" claims?

LOL. We were even joking about that at Utica on Saturday...

But, for personally selfish reasons, I hope so, because they could stand an excellent chance at hosting this year's championship weekend since it's at a campus site -- and no way Hobart will be able to host it. And Utica hosting it makes it very convenient for me. :-)

No one asked, shut up and stay out if you're gonna just come here and try to derail this again

I wasn't talking to you, so I don't know why you would even respond.

This will stop as soon as the question I keep asking gets answered.

This exchange reminds me of the benefits for recruiting of schools with nominal admissions standards.

Ok, that was a cheap shot.

Utica was actually one of the few schools that admitted me coming out of high school.

Laughing my *** off.....hoping the hate will grow before this season is over. Have fun talking about yourself until our teams meet. :) Love, Bart-man

I've said it a million times, but it never ceases to amaze me via how HC manages to be so good every year. (And yes, I've been to Geneva a lot, scratched my head thinking about the recruiting there, but whatever... It clearly works.)

I'm with you as far as UU meeting Hobart again this year for the first time in quite a while. If that happens, it'll mean both programs are deep into the PS, and I'll pull for the winner to advance.

Still, we hate Hobart.

Utica didn't require at least a GED..?!?

:P

Aw c’mon…you know you miss us! There was a good span of time when a Utica/Hobart game likely had league title and/or national tourney birth opportunities on the line. Some really great games between two really good teams.

Anyone know of bad blood between Taylor and Heenan? When Hobart bounced and then the ECAC West morphed, I would have thought these two would have worked out a time-slot to play every year (alternating home ice each year). Relatively speaking, Utica is not a long road trip for the Statesmen. Makes me wonder…seems like it would have been obvious to keep this rivalry going.

Perhaps Hobart doesn't want to schedule self-proclaimed perennial national powers, and only schedule legitimate ones.

Must be why they have Potsdam, Buffalo State, and Cortland on the schedule.

No argument there - our line up vs the SUNY this year didn't pan out as well as some other years. But let's not omit the other 4 NC games on their schedule - Oswego, Colby, Trinity and Salve Regina. Not all bad...those are some pretty solid teams.

Not to mention that after the New Year, Hobart still has Norwich x 2, Elmira x2, Babson and Skidmore left to play as they battle through their in-conference schedule. Hobart will not go undefeated. As the saying goes, "steel sharpens steel"....and their NEHC opponents down the stretch should hopefully keep them sharp.

LoL. Sir Nubs, behave.

Can't you two just meet after school in the parking lot and get this over with? :)

All he has to do is present evidence to back his claim and the question at hand. He hasn't, because he has none. It's just easier for everyone to launch ad hom attacks instead of simply admitting, "You know, I may have embellished a little." Especially when everyone has figured it out. Difficult for narcissists to do though...
