Utica University 2022-23: Is This The Year?

So, I have a PWR question. Can Hobart overtake Utica in PWR , since the Hobart remaining schedule opponents have higher RPI's than Utica's? The math to figure this out is too time consuming, but just interested in the insight from those with more experience in Hockey rankings than me.Thanks

I can't tell you for sure, but Utica's SOS is going to take a hit big time over these next six games. Hobart has some very tough and strong games left, so if both teams were to run the table, I THINK Hobart would have a shot at catching them.

I think so too, maybe, but if Utica wins out, they'll be tough to catch.

The PW doesn't punish you much for beating bad teams.

Thanks for the feedback. When I looked at the remaining schedule, Utica has a cakewalk. Hobart has games remaining with 2 top teams in Norwich and Skidmore(Skidmore knocked Hobart out of NEHC tourney last year). I was hoping Utica might climb over Endicott giving the possibility of a final in Utica more likely than Beverly, Mass, but unless Endicott is upset, that appears unlikely.

I don’t know this for sure but I don’t think Endicott will be deemed a suitable host for the men’s final four. But I could be wrong.

Also, isn.t there a date that they must request by to host at which time the ability to host is investigated?

Pretty much now. Or close to it. And you have to put in a separate application for each round you wish to host in the NCAA playoffs (just ask UMass-Dartmouth about that...).

Having said that, if your implication for your question is we'll get to know who put in an application and got approved, that information is never released publicly, at least not by the NCAA. The schools can release that if they want.

Also, as long as the school is willing to put in the work, I know of schools that have a very slim chance of even being around to host a certain round, yet are still putting in applications. It never hurts. ["You're telling me there's a chance...?"]

Just a bump.

I don't see Utica losing any ground, should they win-out.

One bad loss could amount to a catastrophe, though.

Won't even bother to comment on the actual game, which was a complete beat-down.

Watched it from home to avoid the Arctic blast. (Thanks, Canada!)

The one thing I took away from the stream is how God-awful the color guy is, and has been. He sounded as though he'd indulged in about 27 bong-hits and a quart of Colt 45 before the game tonight. He's about as useful as breasts on a ping-pong ball. (Does his uncle own the radio station, or something..?)

Let's just let Ray handle the color and the play-by-play on his lonesome, as he used to do so well... Addition by subtraction, as it were.

Disagree. He is knowledgable and was a good player himself. A lot better than what most teams orovide. If I recall he was committed to Utica at one point.

Hard to fathom, don't know what to say except, that goalie had 90 saves, gotta be a record !

Sorry, he's irrelevant IMO... Never makes a cogent comment, doesn't know Jack about D-3 hockey, and routinely steps on Ray, who is truly up-to-speed on that topic.

Unofficially, there were 95 SOG, Shabby, and he didn't give up a single soft goal.

Incredible. We started to count them from the stands in the 2nd, and all our seat-neighbors were on board as well.

Anyway, again, Ralsten was fantastic. Something around 90 saves. I've never seen that before.

I'd call him and ask him to transfer to Utica, but the NCAA would jail me for tampering.
