Utica University 2022-23: Is This The Year?

It has nothing to do with which teams want to travel or not.

It's the NCAA that decides which teams travel or not based on the budget they have for the tournament./QUOTE]

And that's the problem, Russ; just said that.

If the NCAA wants to maintain even a scintilla of credibility, it must treat all sports equally.

(That ship has likely sailed, but whatever.)

Huh..?

On what do you base that statement?

There's this binding metric that's called the PWR, and UU is looking like they'd be doing OK in the NCHA right now.

Well, if you look at H2H results, Utica is 0-2-1 against the NCHA with the 2 losses to Adrian and the tie with Trine. A very good Hobart team lost to Adrian in last year's NCAA tournament. So, in my mind the East needs to make a statement this year , or the teams to the West still have bragging rights, whatever the PWR is..

I am not really liking this year's UCHC schedule. What is the reason for going to a back-to-back games (either on the road or at home) with the same team schedule (which is common in western D1 leagues) vs two games on the road at two locations or two visiting teams a weekend? That means we will only see half the league teams this year.

Back to grousing about tickets. These words are found on the email announcing season ticket renewal:

The 2023-24 season tickets include 15 games at the Adirondack Bank Center with the possibility of games at the Nexus Center. While games at the Nexus Center will not be present on the preloaded season ticket card, season ticket holders will have priority when determining games at the Nexus Center."

I am hoping that the mention of Nexus Center (were I really do like to watch the Women play) is just a "legal" formality should one game be forced to be played there. This is especially a problem since there are more season ticket sales than there are seats in the Nexus Center.

The NCAA does treat all sports equally. But just within the divisions.

They don't treat all divisions equally.

Utica pretty-much dominated the Trine game. That was a bad tie.

But, yeah, Adrian looks to me to be the favorite going forward.

Utica is very likely to go undefeated in its conference, but still is obliged to play in a senseless conference tournament.

If anyone can explain the "logic" there, fire-away.

It's astounding stupid.

Here I go with the cliches, but The U is peaking at the right time, and has stayed remarkably healthy, etc. Men among boys for some months now, since they gelled.

I still have reservations about the 'tending, but I would have to predict a top-2 PW finish at this point.

Not particularly confident about the NCAA's (see the above) but it'll be a fun watch.

This year, I'm rooting for Utica, at least to make it to the semifinals, so they can host the D3 championship weekend, and I can cover it.

I think the NCAA won’t let the Aud sell beer during the championship weekend. Definitely nice to enjoy ice cold adult beverage and enjoy some hockey.
