Interesting that every single team with the exception of Minnesota has a new ranking this week.

With the games for all the top 10 candidates in the books, time for this weeks top 10 list.

Major moves are Cornell moving up and Clarkson and BC keep dropping. Everyone else won their games as they were favored to do so, so they all stayed put.

Interesting line score on the Cornell - Clarkson game. Clarkson out shot Cornell by a good margin, but Clarkson gave up 6 goals. Not sure what to make of that yet, as one of Clarkson's strengths last year was a stingy D.

Yes they are becoming a candidate, but since the teams ahead of them did not lose over the weekend, a win or two over Penn State is not gonna vault them over those teams.

Yes, Thursday at noon, though unless one of those teams wins like 30-0 it won't affect my rankings.

Since I don’t get to see the eastern teams play, it is a little hard to rank them ( and I don’t see how those of you out east can accurately rank the WCHA teams) so I have come up with a ranking system, I’ll call it the Pokechecker index. What I do is take the two coaches poll and come up with an average of them. Then I do the same for the Pairwise/RPI. Then I average the two composite rankings together ( Some of you may recognize this technique, it is often used when there is a question of validity of various data analysis methodology), and use my own knowledge to fill in any gaps or break any ties. Interestingly, the result this week matches the Rutter for the first 5 places and does a pretty good job of matching 4 out of 5 of the remaining ten.
