USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

Re: USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

1) Minnesota
2) Wisconsin
3) Clarkson
4) Cornell
5) North Dakota
6) Boston College
7) Harvard
8) Mercyhurst
9) Ohio State
10) Quinnipiac

I think 2-6 could really go in any order at this point.

Re: USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

if ties are not acceptable, the order I list 'em is the order I think they should be
Ties are just fine, but I can only take the top 10. No problem with these rankings, I'll just leave QU off and assign NoDak and Cornell position 3.5.

Thanks

Re: USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

3 - Clarkson (2)
4 - North Dakota (4)
5 - BC (3)
6 - Cornell (6)

A little surprised you dropped Clarkson just one place to No. 3 despite their loss and a tie against your previously unranked Mercyhurst.

I had a hard time ranking 3-6. Arguments can be made many ways to order it another way.
Here is my line of thought on how I ended up with my final order:

3 - Clarkson ahead of UND.
........Both lost a game to a team in the 9-10 slot last week. Clarkson stayed ahead of UND based on their prior weeks good record.
4 - UND ahead of BC (and BC behind Clarkson).
.......BC lower than Clarkson and UND, cause their loss was against a non-ranked team, and their win over Yale was less than convincing.
5 - BC over Cornell
...... Cornell has yet to play a big team, so won't move them into the top 5 until they do.
.......Won't have to wait long, Clarkson comes for a visit.

Two of the teams hard to figure so far this year are Providence and MC, both hot and cold each weekend. So you hit on the point of "What to make of MC's strength is one of the dilemma's when trying to rank Clarkson after last weekend".

P.S...You guys out west should be happy with my rankings, Minny and Wisco 1-2. ARM is well aware that I call em as I see um, and that I'm not a homer when it comes to this stuff. (even though I might rib you guys every ones and a while just for the fun of it. :) :) )

OK thanks I now get where you're coming from. As you and others have noted ranking Nos. 2-6 is kind of a crapshoot. Which team prevails in Friday's Clarkson-Cornell tilt will help sort things out a bit.

I'm predicting a tie.

I'm predicting a tie.

No prediction as such, but my proprietary model says there is a 59% probability of Cornell winning vs. 28% for Clarkson and 13% the game will end in a tie. ;)

Re: USCHO Women's Hockey Posters Poll

How does your cadence work. (IIRC last week the deadline was Wednesday).
That's because there was a Wednesday night game last week, so he wanted polls submitted in advance of that.
