USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

Not registered yet, but I'll be playing + 1-3 other Miami posters/lurkers. Just working out details and twisting some arms. Get ready to laugh!

On that note: I have equipment covered except for helmet. I'll ask some folks I know, but if anyone has an large helmet sitting around that they won't be using, I'd love to borrow it just in case I can't track one down for the weekend. In exchange, I will return it to you with 2.3 pints of sweat. :D

P.S. not sure if any of my group are interested in goalie, but I'll definitely mention that we need one more.

Is the back to back frozen four appearances getting to your head a little bit?;)

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

Still can't figure sides yet. But it won't be the UP vs. the world. Maybe the Great State of Michigan vs. everyone else- that's possible.

And we need ONE MORE GOALIE!!! We only have one right now.

Don't let his screen name fool you but BGDave is a yooper.

Can't evilgoalie play both ends? It would give him something to do other than laugh at us.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

As of now, is there only going to be one goalie? Also, I registered as "maybe" playing, but I'm like 92.5% sure that I will be playing.

I talked to a goalie friend this afternoon and he cant make it that day. So yes, I believe we're still at just 1 goalie.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

... It surprises me that there aren't more people signing up than last year. At that time, the thought was that with there being no local team just about everyone who had any interest would have to find a way to get their equipment to DC. Detroit, on the other hand, has several local teams with more USCHO members who would not have to deal with getting equipment on airplanes.
The facts in your post are accurate, but I'd interpret them a little differently. The large majority of those signed up are CCHA-based. You'd expect that with the easier trip, of course. But my take would be that overall numbers are down because of an almost complete absence of non-CCHA players.

It looks like we're starting to add some people, particularly Spartans and Redhawks. That's urgently needed, and very good news. We still need more, though. If just a few players from the other conferences can step up, we should have a fine game.

I'm wondering if any of this year's players are flying to the tournament. It's distinctly possible that everyone on the list is driving. If that's the case, I've got to wonder if the Posters' Game is going on sabbatical in 2012. It's hard to believe that any significant number of us will be driving to Tampa Bay.

Obviously it's way too earlier to give up on having a game in 2012. But since Tampa is an iffy proposition, maybe that makes playing this year a bit more compelling. Something to think about if you're sitting on the fence.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

Right now, we are good to go- pgb-ohio is organizing the T's, and tD already did the webpage...
We may need a group e-mail on this.

My understanding was that Eric will produce the half-dozen shirts involved, but is not coming to SE MI for the festivities. Conversely, my role is confined to game day, essentially doing the things that Eric might have done if present. If that's what you meant by "organizing," we're cool. Otherwise, we need to make sure that nothing is slipping between the cracks.

Between Mrs. Alfa and melmac, I think the registration table should be good to go- but I have your e-mail, just in case we need some help- thanks for the offer!!!
Excellent; I'll assume I'm also not scheduled for that duty. Nevertheless, I will still get to the rink early to help out wherever necessary.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

What I can use is more skaters- if you can convince Gomer that his body won't melt by playing hockey in this evil environment... (I'm assuming that's the issue- probably the real issue is that it's a PITA to get to Ann Arbor, which I understand, but the consensus here was Yost first)
In general... that's a solid Saturday afternoon to drive to AA, 2 hours of hockey, drive back.

But otherwise, yeah, I have issues. I was last there for the sendoff your crowd gave the greatest coach in the history of college hockey following his loss to CC. I remember clearly how I felt sitting in the stands listening to your "fans", who didn't even have a horse in the race, ridicule and deride him. I can only imagine how he felt.

A year or so later, I recall an interview where Mason said he had no desire to return to Yost. I've felt the same way.

That was the defining moment in the petrification of my partisanship. What can I say, I was young and impressionable back then.

Good on you guys though for putting all of this together!

I was there for that and felt the same way...then I was there for the first time after that a couple years ago, when Drew Miller scored 2 goals in the final 90 seconds which was the perfect way to reintroduce myself to Yost.

That, I am fully aware of- he and my dad get along famously... (and I *still* need to get to the farm...)

But that darned BGSU sweater he wears. :)

Well, with the average talent level playing I'm sure he can outskate most...

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

I think I'll be able to dig up a single goalie- I was hoping it to be a poster, or a friend of a poster. But I still have some ties to my old hockey group, and might be able to get a drop in for the day.

Don't worry too much about that.

pgb- if the T's get to be too much of a burden between you and Eric, then just leave it. It's a fun idea, but the more fun will be focused on the ice.

I'm shooting for 20 or so players, not including goalies, min- so we have two lines each team. It would be nice to have 24 players so we have a few extra to work in- it's not like we will have formal lines, that's for sure. And since we have two hours of ice time, even those who are lined up with an ice hog should get plenty of time. Remember, you are winning nothing, this is just for the sake of fun, and "bragging" rights....

IIRC, by about 3/4 of the way though, we will all be so tired that some will have to take double shifts...

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

Check your e-mail, everyone.

And if you are even just thinking about playing, please, please please go to the webpage, and register. You'll get the e-mails from me about updates.

And I'm still looking for a few skaters to pretend to be refs. Another scorekeeper would be nice. Just some more interest in general would go a long way.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

I just signed up, could be fun. May have others intersted. Any chance of registering the day of? Some people who are interested will only come up if Miami wins thursday.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

I haven't decided if I'll play this year yet. What are the specifics on date/time? I'm too lazy to go through the thread. :p

EDIT: Anddddd date and time are plastered in huge font on the front page of the website.

EDIT 2: Really? No other BC fans?

EDIT 3: No other EASTERN fans? WESTERN BIAS!

Although you probably answered your own questions....

Saturday, April 10, Noon-2pm, Yost Ice Arena, Ann Arbor, MI.

Is that good? :D

Yea, no BC fans. It appears that the normal BC contigent planned for something else. Like not going to the Frozen Four

And this is self induced bias. :p
(really, though, I think pgb hit it on the head- drivers are more likely to play than fliers, due to cost)

At this point, I will say, yes. But if they do, ask them to sign up on the registration form on Friday. I'll try to have the list printed out before, but it's not a big deal.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

I invited a couple of my friends that lurk or occassionally post on the board. Looks like one signed up. Not sure which that was. One of them mentioned they may be able to ref. I'll talk to him about that a bit more.

Are there any other females signed up?

alfa, will there be locker room(s)? If I end up changing in the bathroom that's fine, it wouldn't be the first time.

Mrs. Beerman is tentatively signed up, too. She's played in the past. We will have lockers, and I'm sure I can get a separate one for women. But the one time I did play, Quiz and Mrs. Beerman used the same locker as all the guys... So.... It's kind of up to you.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

I was going to register to post on the site, now that I found out about this, I had another reason to register.

Now I'm registered for the game and excited to lace up with some fellow college hockey fans! RedHawkBandMan and myself will be bringing a couple other tag-alongs, I'm looking forward to meeting you all in person and contributing to the discussion around here in the future.

Love and Honor!
