USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

Monday update- here's the current list of players and volunteers:
tDarkness
con1977
wolverineTrumpet
Evilgoalie
HusklyNation
pgb-ohio
Wol4ine
beerman
BGDave
alfablue

and melmac for scorekeeping.

May have a poster who could be "ref" - I'll use that loosely, since it's not all that organized....

I'm still not sure about the cost, but the ice time will be $15-20pp for the two hours. If we get close to 30, I'll make it $15. And I'll ask the previous organizers about shirts- I know you all signed up for them.

For those of you who have not, click here to register.

And I'll thank tDarkness once again for setting up the web page for registration.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

tyler expressed interest in playing. he really liked Yost when we visited two years ago -- so if y'all don't mind skating with a pee wee.....

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

Sorry, I won't be able to make it as I hoped. My dad's 60th birthday party will be happening on this day.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

Still need to make sure I can get an exam rescheduled, but even if I can't come I'll still chip in whatever my share would've been as a donation.

Big deal, he's already had 59. When's the next time you're gonna get a chance to play at Yost.

His skill level is probably already better than everybody elses then. ;) :D

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

Sounds like this would be a good year for me to get some ice team, and playing at Yost is definitely appealing, but I don't plan to go to Detroit at this point unless UNH makes it there.........so I wouldn't start holding my breath.

I'm pretty sure I don't want to fly to Michigan just to play hockey for two hours.

Another Monday update
We are up to 11 players, one maybe:

tDarkness
con1977
wolverineTrumpet
Evilgoalie
HusklyNation
pgb-ohio
Wol4ine
beerman
BGDave
alfablue
Bueller

Maybe
kdilks

and melmac for scorekeeping.

We've been dicussing "stuff" with the previous organizers, and couple of things:

First- cost- I'm going to pin the cost at the moment for $25. That will be the upper end, goalies free (refs are free, too)- and I'll reserve the right to lower that as I see fit. I may be going out on a limb here, but I'm going to trust you all to pay when you arrive to the rink. We should have a registration table set up at the entrance to the lockers by 11am. If we get enough people, cost will go down, but I do need to cover the ice time.

Second- "goodies"- it's come to my attention that T-shirts are not as big of a deal as many seem to think. Like last year was an on-line option that only one or two people did. So, even though you are using T-shirt size as part of the info, that's not going to happen. I've got two people looking into alternatives. IF this falls apart, cost will go down.

And I totally understand the last min nature of many of your plans- which is why I'm just going to go with the flow. I sure hope we get more than 12. And I hope a few locals I've talked to sign up, on, off, in stripes, whatever- I may need some more help. Again, IF you want to do anything related- please register at the link- just so I know someone is going do help. The only ones paying are the players.

Thanks, all.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

I registered as well as a 'maybe'.
Unfortunately due to work and other vacation plans, I will only be able to attend if UND makes it to Detroit.

Would be awesome to play in Yost after we played in Magness a few years ago.

Now that the regionals are set, hopefully, some of you may make some plans to come to Detroit. But I expect it to really pick up next week, once the Frozen Four are set in stone.

Again, here's the registration link-

I would be one of the previous organizers, and one of those looking into alternatives.

Organizers: Check your e-mail. There's an alternative proposal waiting in your inboxes. If this is a go, I'd like to get moving immediately. Please reply as soon as you can!

And I totally understand the last min nature of many of your plans- which is why I'm just going to go with the flow. I sure hope we get more than 12.
The Posters' Game is a great addition to your Frozen Four weekend. Meet your fellow posters, get some exercise in, it's all good.

Yes, I know. Airline baggage fees [insert expletive here]. But ask yourself: When am I going to get another chance to play at Yost?

Maybe you have some questions about the event itself. Please post them on this thread. Those of us who have played in the past will be glad to help in any way we can.

One thing can't be emphazised enough: This is a very friendly recreational hockey game. All ability levels are welcome. If you've ever played hockey in ice skates, you are good enough.

Bottom Line: I strongly urge you to register for this game!

And I hope a few locals I've talked to sign up, on, off, in stripes, whatever- I may need some more help. Again, IF you want to do anything related- please register at the link- just so I know someone is going do help. The only ones paying are the players.
As per my e-mail, I'm willing to work at the registration table. Just let me know.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

My chances of going to the Frozen Four, and therefore playing in this game just went up exponentially today. :D

...and, it's entirely possible to play in the game without ever having played ice hockey in your life. I did it two years ago in Denver.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

..and crushed the next. See you at Mariucci?

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

After this weekend's performance, it looks like I went from a MAYBE to a NEGATIVE.
Sorry about that.
Hope you all have a great time skating at Yost!

See you next season in St. Paul.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

Now that the Frozen Four are set, here's the current line up

tDarkness

pgb-ohio
Wol4ine
beerman
BGDave
alfablue
Bueller
Yager
bluevox

and melmac for scorekeeping.

Hopefully, the Michigan fans who committed before last week can keep playing- 14 players for a 2 hour slot is a lot. And I'd like to keep the cost to $22pp, so I need more players. Please get the word out to fans to join us at this historic rink, no make that historic building, for some fun pick up hockey among friends.

2010 Posters Game Registration

Some new things- for fun, we have decided to give away T's to deserving players. We are still working on all the catagories, but here's the general idea- we have a panel of 3 non-playing judges (please volunteer for that) that will LIVE score plays that they see fit. We want the really good, and the really, really bad. Those that the judges see fit will get the T's.

Remember, this is Noon, April 10, Yost Ice Arena, Ann Arbor. Very easy drive from Detroit, and all of the typical 'burb hotels.
