USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

Second, I may NOT be able to play come Saturday. My ankle is in an aircast right now after a floor hockey incident. I am pretty confident that I can be ready by then but there is a chance that I won't be able to.

Wow, I hope you can make it- you were one my my yooper lynch pins for the Michigan team- we need to show who's the State of Hockey. :)

Well, assuming you could keep up with tD.... :D

(I'll call this morning about the ice)

Re: USCHO Poster's Game, 2010- in the house that Yost Built.

According to the Yost website, they have open skating through 4/11, so we should be good.

I just talked to the rink manager, we are good to go. The only issue is that my 11am time is too early. We can start showing up at 11:15.

There will be some directions for the two scoreboard runners, too.

AND we will have two lockers.

If any of you have events in Ann Arbor, I really liked working with the group at Yost. :D

Is there a rule against beer in the locker rooms? I don't want to break any rules...just thought about bringing a case to share with the group to celebrate after a good skate. I would guess it is not allowed, as it is on campus...but figured I would ask.

Yea- I would not do that. To my knowledge, there are but a few locations where you can have beer on campus, and Yost isn't one of them.

I'm sure we all appreciate that offer of yours, too! Very nice!

What's funny is that many local hockey places were craking down on that a when I was playing, too- we played at a dump in Inkster as a company league, and by the time I left, they were not happy with the beer in the locker.

Hahaha, Inkster, good memories. That place is by far the worst rink I have ever seen or played in.

Any way, I am thinking it is 80% chance of playing right now. It is recovering well and the skate boot is literally a cast. I've played with a fractured ankle before and this one isn't even fractured so I think I should be okay.

Beer is the last thing inskter needs to worry about lol, the smell of beer probably was a little breath of fresh air for that place....

I saw the picture of your ankle on facebook. Gruesome. But like you said that skate boot is like a cast. When I tore my ankle up playing floor hockey a couple years ago I couldn't walk for like a month but I shoved my foot in that skate laced it up nice and tight and had no problems skating on it. Not that I'm encouraging you to do the same.

Thanks for putting this all together ab.

I will be bringing some old broomball jerseys (one dark / one light) for others to use if they don't bring an alternate. I also have a little bit of extra equipment (a set of elbow pads, old set of gloves, maybe an old helmet) I can bring as well.

Looking forward to Saturday. :)

Yager, man up!

If all else fails a pint of whiskey will do the trick :D

Unless they are basketball players... then they are panzies and don't even play a real sport.

I was given some Vicodin, maybe I should try half a pint of whiskey AND that. Hmmm.

Canfield? Melvindale (pre-renovation)? River Rouge? Maybe Garden City? Redford? Probably a couple others I can't remember that are in the same ballpark.

Toledo Sports Arena was probably the worst (thankfully, it's gone). They only had two (undersized) locker rooms, so you had to bring your bags behind the bench while you played so the people before you could undress/the people after you could get dressed. The doors to get from the bench onto the ice were tiny, and about a foot above ice level. At some point, they put advertisements over some of those doors which effectively locked them shut. One time I remember looking up into the rafters from the ice and being able to see smog.

At least it was worth taking pictures of. The Inkster arena is so disgusting I would have to pixelate censor it in order to post it. Not to mention the Toledo one is an actual rink with a crap load of seats. Inkster is a single arena that has locker rooms that go up about 12-15 wooden stairs which aren't even covered in rubber. You can barely see through the glass and when someone checks into a panel, it literally moves at least a foot back at the top and then swings back and forth a few times. It moves far enough back that I have seen pucks go through the glass if it was shot along the boards while someone was pressing against the glass.

Bring it anyway, since when do you care what those *******es in Ann Arbor think? ;) :D

For Yager's ankle or the postgame locker room festivities?

When I read it, I was thinking for the actual Inkster locker rooms... They were pretty disgusting, and any alcohol would make a good dissifectant.

When I was still playing, in addition to the dump conditions, Inkster also had the claim to fame of the WOST air qaulity thanks to a really, really, really poor running Zamboni. The day the article came, out, we played, and they had all the doors open, and all the fans on trying to fix it...

Yuk.

Not like Yost what so ever. :D
