I may have missed some, but I think these are the U18 girls that have moved on from the 66 camp to the festival in Lake Placid.

No question that Minnesota is in an excellent position in terms of attracting many of the best players from within the State's borders. As Minnesota's largest - and only Twin Cities-based D1 university - that has always been the case. However, given all their recent success nationally and their proven, very stable coaching staff, the Gophers are also attracting major talent from outside the State's borders. There are many examples of tremendous players who are not from Minnesota that have contributed mightily to their success. And, looking at the incoming classes for the next couple of years, it sure looks like that will continue.Wow. Seems like a lot of Minnesota commits. I can only imagine that the girls from Minnesota who haven't committed yet are in the gopher pipeline. No wonder they are a powerhouse.
2016 Camp selections for the Select 66 Camp drop today apparently.
How many Minnesota girls will make it? I say 35-40.
The kids in the first group are being notified today. (mostly by phone, with email to follow)....Last year Mn had 27 kids
Do the districts set up their own dates or is that decided for them? Hard for Cali girls to make it.
I was under the impression that USA Hockey reps went to all of the District tryouts. But I could be wrong.
Not that I am defending USA Hockey. They could do a better job of evaluating talent.
BCAlum, I could not agree more...you are spot on. These tryouts are a joke. Its almost as if you are penalized for being a team player. To top it off, if it is not the MN or NE District, they only send one person to watch. What can they see???? It is a broken system that overlooks some very good hockey players because of where they live.I would agree. I would also say that some of the most selfish and bad hockey is played at these tryouts. Everyone trying to get noticed = bad hockey.
They should scout three to four tournaments. Start with Beantown, NAHA and Nationals. Add a fourth well attended tourney. These are all club team tourneys where selfish play is not generally accepted.

amen!all of that.... Plus, how about choosing a neutral coach for the u18 team so the prospective talent for the u18 select camp (and future u18 national team) is evaluated and chosen unbiased-ly and without an eye to recruiting for his/her college program?
