The underlying angst for many of us who's kids have been through the NDC evaluation process this year is that it is so inconsistent across the country. Some regions had tryouts in March and April, while others waited until June and charged players $650 to tryout which prolonged the goalie selections.
WHAT?!?!?! Are you serious? There are many things f'ed up about kids hockey but $650 just for a tryout seems beyond the pale.

Rocky Mountain, Northern Plains and Pacific thought it would be a good idea to hold a multi-district camp mid June to make player selections for NDC 3 weeks before St Cloud. All the while holding up at-large goalie selections. And obviously the 66 camp had to be chosen well before this date.

What is the point of this camp now that there is the 66 camp? Feels like a participation trophy camp.
There will be girls here that drop out of 66 as it is proven they dont belong as their are girls in U18 camp who should have gone to 66.
Brooke Kudrika being one girl who I don't know how she got past over for this 66 camp. She was the top girl at the Central district camp. Maybe they don't like Omaha?

Ahhh.... the transparent parent poster... it never gets old...
Brooke is clearly a talented player and will do very well for herself. It appears she is committed to St Cloud State so she has cleared the most important hurdle - college evaluation and commitment (and I am guessing scholarship). Enjoy the success she has had and that is coming. Which national camp she gets invited to is largely immaterial at this point.
I see plenty of outstanding U18s on the camp this week in Minnesota. A lot of girls who have full or close to full scholarship acceptances and/or offers that I am aware of. So I would hardly call it a Tier 2 camp. Does the pool go a little too deep? I'm sure it does. As it does at the U15 camp. The numbers there are insane. One of my daughters was there last year and will be there again in a couple of weeks, and it was pretty diluted last year. I cannot imagine now that it is doubled how much worse it is going to be. Hopefully I am wrong. That is the case for every camp. Thus my point, another camp below the 66 camp to keep people happy. Perhaps a Tier 2 Natty Camp?

Unfortunately I think you fears will be realized. It was diluted at the bottom last year and even with the addition of the legendary Minn HS girls (Minnie dig ) doubling the size of the camp this year will not make it better.
This is the only way that USA Hockey has a chance to get a national snapshot of the top 5-10% 15 and under talent now that they have eliminated the 14 national camp. All will be "right-sized" every year when players move up to the 18 camps that include 2 birth years. Seems like a decent way to funnel talent over time by decreasing the opportunity.
I will be looking forward to the USCHO's poster evaluations of talent.
More times evaluating in different settings is a good thing. Many of the coaches are on the ice/bench with the players providing a different perspective than a tournament. Giving away up to $65k per year on a scholarship warrants a big time investment IMHO.There is a huge difference between the top 5% and say the 10% But is there a great difference between the 10% & 25%?
I would think the coaches would be better off scouting the NAHA Labor Day, Stoney Creek & US-Can Challenge than this Camp in MN.

The current U18 camp is not the Elite 66 Camp. However I see a handful of girls who should have been at the 66 camp. There is a girl from Washington who is outstanding, had a couple of goals today. The top 25% of this camp is very good. The bottom 25% struggle. So this is the National camp your talking about. Not the Advanced 66 camp? What do you mean by the camp is too deep. Do you mean there are too many lower level girls at this National camp? And there is a seperate camp for 15 year olds that do not mix with the U18 girls?

The U15 camp is separate and is doubled in size, while they eliminated the U14 camp. The U15 camp will be severely diluted.
