There are rules here.

So, based on my reading, those rules get bent and even broken all the time. The succession line itself runs like a Swiss watch but the actual house membership and naming gets fussed about and twisted like a Ferrari pit stop. Setting aside that "Windsor" itself is the heraldic equivalent of Freedom Fries, that whole Teutonic nettle is a hot, homely mess.

The Windor name deal is one of my GFs favorite facts. She loves studying European Monarchies (and even the old Russian Ones) so she talks about stuff like that a lot. I try and listen but I never got into the monarchies (I prefer ancient history) so I tend to zone out fast. The Windsor fact stuck though and was quite interesting.

Liz took over in 1952.

Code:
1837-1901 Victoria
1901-1910 Edward 7
1910-1936 George 5
1936-1936 Edward 8
1936-1952 George 6
1952-2022 Elizabeth 2

Figuring they kick it at 90, with good free health care:

Code:
2022-2038 Charles 3 (currently 74)
2038-2072 William 4 (40)
2072-2103 George 7 (9)

William V. C'mon man.

I like your GF; I'm into that stuff too.

Redhead? Asking for a friend.

"Top. Men."
Not really, it’s part of the reason why Phillip had to renounce all his royal titles before marrying Elizabeth (he was Prince Phillip of Denmark and Greece) and caused a rift in his family even before the war.

I know, I just heard the cadence.

She is Greek so...more brunette than anything.

She knows her stuff...walking around Paris with her was a trip. She lived there for a while so seeing how much it has changed made her sad.

Best way to describe the differences between me and her...I loved the Louvre and she prefers Muse de Orsay. I would rather see Hammurabi's Code than Impressionists ;^) She likes Versailles, I prefer a trip to Normandy.

Nope. I can just barely handle Irish anger. A man must know his limitations.

She's right about d'Orsay, too -- maybe the most beautiful museum in the world (I have not been to the Rijksmuseum, Hermitage, or Doge's Palace). My wife (then GF) broke her foot there but it was still worth it.

Mine hurt her foot at The Louvre.

Yeah Musee D'Orsay is nice I just dont have an eye for that type of art.

Mookie would love Paris...no joke it was 1/3 Asian tourists.

And watch out for the 60 year old Japanese ladies with perms. They will stop for no one. It doesn't matter that they're only likely 5'4". They'll bowl straight ahead and use their low center of gravity to ram anyone in their way out of the way. They play to win.

cripes, I've been to all of those, the louvre, d'orsay, and the reina Sofia. Doge was incredible. I still remember that vividly.
