Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

I believe so yes. Also, everything they have to change, will be changed when it is up for maintenance or when it normally would have been updated/changed. I think they have until 2050 to change out all that.

I'm sure there is a lot of rumor in that, and in everything else that is being said (as far as the changes that will have to be made). We'll find out soon enough exactly what will happen. :(

I thought I read, most noticably the marble floor, still has to be changed by 2015.

Boston Collage fan here who is angry to see this happening to your school. North Dakota has one of the best images in college hockey...colors, tradition, name, logo...the whole nine yards. Is this decision forced upon you because some people are actually offended by the school name and imagery, or because some politically-correct 'elites' have decided that, somehow, it could be construed as being offensive?

You've got a very proud hockey program. This just isn't right.

From my understanding, it was largely the standing rock tribal council who did not allow a full tribal vote. It appears if that did happen the tribe would have voted to support the name and logo. This support along with that of the Spirit Lake band (which had previously stated their support) was the requirement the NCAA had for UND to keep the name.

Anyone, please correct me if I am wrong.

Yes Ron Horse Farts Thunder had a non-binding vote. Tribe said yes to the name, council ignored it. Ron is out now, but they won't hold another vote.

A triumph of mindless, gleeful, mean-spirited iconoclasm. I'm truly sorry, college hockey has been diminished. And to what end? To enhance the coprophagic grins of the PC police! Indeed a sad day.

I was in Phoenix last weekend. Took in the UA/ASU softball game on Saturday and San Carlos Lake on Friday.
