Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

I'd guess that after next season it's gone. They'll start phasing it out this season, while starting to remove the logos.

Might as well go out in style then, by winning the national title. :)
It would certainly be better than BC or UW winning it. :D

I was in Phoenix last weekend.

So was I. I don't remember bumping into you. ;)

For once, I wouldn't mind. Unless the Gophers are there of course. Yes this is a rare crack in my armor. That's how mad I am about this.

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

So regarding the jerseys...? Are they sioux next year or should I go about finding one now? (wcha jersey wall. Anything but the sioux would be a complete disgrace.)

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

We all knew this was coming, but it is a bitter pill to swallow. If there was really anything about the nickname that was "hostile and abusive" that's one thing. But it is simply political correctness at it's ugly worst possible form. Why is it OK for the NC$$ to decide that any school can or can't use an Indian nickname? What makes that acceptable at school X but not at school Y? This is a crock of ***!

Sad to see a great tradition have to go because of some PC BS

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

it is indeed sad to see the name go. I love the logo, and what it represents. I will most likely make it a permanent thing for me, like I've seen so many times before.

I think we should be focusing our energy into coming up with alternatives. I sincerely hope the SBoHE lets the people decide. It's a little bit too late, but it would help throw a more positive outlook on the situation.

Not the way they did it.

If they waited until the deadline, then the SBoHE would have no recourse but to take action for or against.

They could use this to say "We gave them the most time we could and this is the result (positive or negative)."

They are off the hook.

Now, once again, the "White Man" has ignored the NA wishes. One tribe approved the nickname. The other was moving to vote on it. Way to go.

There is no positive light from this move.

Then there is the majority of ND residents who have chimed in on this issue. They're not fans of the SBoHE.

Like I said in a different thread. The SBoHE made this decision for two reasons:

1. Seperate byline in the history books. Now they'll be remembered apart from any of the previous SBoHE members as having made a truly major decision. And, since it is a PC agenda, they can twist it to make themselves look like saviors and defenders of all rather than language nazis and power hungry despots.

2. Smoke screen. HOLY CRAP! NDSU's finances are a mess. QUICK! Distract them! Let's change UND's nickname! That will keep the heat off of NDSU and us!

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

there you go you elitist *kers. You once again have proven majority does not rule in America. I hope you're *king happy.

Run the table, Sioux! Take home every piece of hardware next year. :)

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

Cool it with the political stuff. This wasn't the fault of the "liberals" (or any other elected group). This was the fault of the SBoHE which were appointed (by a Republican governor). These 8 goofballs clearly had an agenda that didn't include the input from any other source or group. The crazy thing is that "liberals" are just as outraged about this because the board disenfranchised the Spirit Lake group by ignoring their wishes and the Standing Rock group by not even letting them get to a vote.

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

I HATE UND, but would love to see them fling this back in the faces of the pc morons who were against the Sioux name.

Is there any chance they rename to the "Warriors", keep the same logo and all?

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

How much money was wasted fighting this that could have been put into the hockey program, or, -gasp!- education?

Re: University of North Dakota - Offseason Thread 2010

For all of you that vote democrat and liberal - congratulations, you have helped to weaken a country!

Sounds like someone eats breakfast 80 yards away from 4000 Cubans who are trained to kill him.

What a truly pathetic announcement from the State board.

You can't tell me that this republican gov. appointed all of them. My point is this: keep on voting in and appointing morons like this and our country will soon be called the United Socialist States of America.

I vote foe Warriors with the same logo. @#$% the No. Dak. SBoHE!!

OK, I won't tell you that. I'll simply tell you that John Hoeven (the current, republican governor) has been in office since 2000, and the longest serving member of the SBoHE was appointed in 2002. Draw your own conclusion concerning who did the appointing.
