I'd guess that after next season it's gone. They'll start phasing it out this season, while starting to remove the logos.
I was in Phoenix last weekend.
Might as well go out in style then, by winning the national title.
It would certainly be better than BC or UW winning it.
So was I. I don't remember bumping into you.![]()
We all knew this was coming, but it is a bitter pill to swallow. If there was really anything about the nickname that was "hostile and abusive" that's one thing. But it is simply political correctness at it's ugly worst possible form. Why is it OK for the NC$$ to decide that any school can or can't use an Indian nickname? What makes that acceptable at school X but not at school Y? This is a crock of ***!
it is indeed sad to see the name go. I love the logo, and what it represents. I will most likely make it a permanent thing for me, like I've seen so many times before.
I think we should be focusing our energy into coming up with alternatives. I sincerely hope the SBoHE lets the people decide. It's a little bit too late, but it would help throw a more positive outlook on the situation.
For all of you that vote democrat and liberal - congratulations, you have helped to weaken a country!![]()
I HATE UND, but would love to see them fling this back in the faces of the pc morons who were against the Sioux name.
Is there any chance they rename to the "Warriors", keep the same logo and all?
Cool it with the political stuff. This wasn't the fault of the "liberals" (or any other elected group). This was the fault of the SBoHE which were appointed (by a Republican governor). These 8 goofballs clearly had an agenda that didn't include the input from any other source or group. The crazy thing is that "liberals" are just as outraged about this because the board disenfranchised the Spirit Lake group by ignoring their wishes and the Standing Rock group by not even letting them get to a vote.
OK, I won't tell you that. I'll simply tell you that John Hoeven (the current, republican governor) has been in office since 2000, and the longest serving member of the SBoHE was appointed in 2002. Draw your own conclusion concerning who did the appointing. You can't tell me that this republican gov. appointed all of them.
