University of Maine 2024–2025: Freel-ing good

Feel like the only ways Maine stays in Manchester will be to win Hockey East and get a #1 seed (with UNH missing), or settling for a #2 seed if UNH does sneak into the tourney. Maybe there are other scenarios but those are the only two I can think of at the moment.

You must be one of those complainer police over on the facebook page? Not really complaining, this program clearly wants to bring itself in all aspects to the upper stds in d1. Running a saw while barr is talking, pretty amateurish. Barr gave a rather irritated look over at that too. Watch Bazins post game interview from the weekend, its a very well done production, that is a std to get to.

Breazeale is a candidate for the hockey humanitarian award. Seems like he does a lot off campus in the community which is great. He was a late addition to the team the summer Barr took over. He’s been fantastic, was great watching him in that game last Friday night get a couple breakaways, and in on an odd man rush. Pretty good defensemen with a pro frame. Wouldn’t shock me if we see him at NHL level some day.

Breazeale ....one of the more impressive people I've had the pleasure to watch in a Maine uni over the years. He does everything it seems the right way. He is consummate captain

And the guy on channel 5 asks the worst questions sometimes. Barr answers them all because he's a nice guy but my guess is once the renos are done there will be a place to do an interview besides an open area with tons of traffic and noise. Heck I even heard construction on one of these earlier in the year.

Anyway don't want to complain too much because then I'll have to get a grip

If Alfond isn't an appropriate place to conduct a proper interview at the time, take the two minute walk over to the fieldhouse and use an office or conference room there. It really shouldn't be difficult to figure out. And for people like me who are horrifically bothered by ambient noise, it really is an issue.

Or, tell the local yokels to squelch their saws for 5 minutes. Like you say, its not difficult. But someone has to have their head screwed on straight to coordinate such a difficult task, eh? Back to sleep unc.

Ya know, watching him live at RPI a few weeks back, I thought the same thing.

I don't even think that he showed up on the scoresheet, but he was the best player I saw that weekend.
 
What would winning a Hockey East regular season title mean for the program at this point?We haven’t done it since 1995. Obviously still a ways to go until it’s a reality but I think it would signal some staying power for Maine in the next 5-10 years.

I wouldn't go that far. We've seen plenty of Hockey East teams flare up then fade away in a 5 year stretch. To me, a regular season title only matters to give Maine an easier road to Boston and a likely 1 seed in the NCAAs.

It would signify consistent work ethic and good team chemistry and leadership. But at the end of the day winning HE title and/or getting to a frozen four would be better achievements. Nevertheless, it would be impressive since Maine basically went from a 7 win team Barr’s first year to the top of arguably the strongest conference(7 teams in top 13 in pairwise rankings) in his fourth year. That is a mountain or work along the way and I hope the team achieves something to show for it by season’s end!

I think it just raises the bar(r) and expectations for this season specifically. Was nice to get a taste of meaningful games in March last year, but obviously that gets the players and fans hungrier to see the team take that next step (hopefully April games). Would still be a great accomplishment since it's been so long, and like Sparkee said another feather in the cap of Barr's turnaround of the program in just a few short years.
 
I think a HE tourney championship means more in the long run. Hot at the right point in the season.
