UNH Wildcats - '10 Playoff Edition

Re: UNH Wildcats - '10 Playoff Edition

Playing with the PWR Predictor, it seems that the Michigan/NMU game, along with Cornell (who appears to have their game in control) are the keys. UNH can finish #11 regardless of whether BC or Maine win, as long as Michigan and Cornell win. SCSU/Nodak doesn't seem to matter, and RIT is well on their way to winning.

Re: UNH Wildcats - '10 Playoff Edition

Thanks to the Big Red and Maize and Blue. UNH is definitely in at 11 now. The mess at the Garden has no bearing. Whoops, now it's over. Weak goal to end the Bears hopes in OT. Too bad. The 'Cats live to fight another day. Let's bring some fight!!

Re: UNH Wildcats - '10 Playoff Edition

So the assumption that's being made is three HE teams in? BC, UNH and UVM?

If SCSU wins, UVM is tied for 12th, and would be #14 after tiebreakers.

If Nodak wins, UVM is tied for 11th, and would be #14 after tiebreakers.

I have the Wildcats in St Paul playing St. Cloud... :p

But the committee could switch UNH and NMU in which case you'd be in Albany facing Cornell

What makes you so confident that we "learned our lesson"? I want UNH in the tourney, but Maine would have defended HE better than us or VT. Hope I'm wrong.

Oh joy. Our team --with back-to-back shutouts -- draws a Cornell goalie with three consecutive shutouts.

So we get to face Ithaca's most recent incarnation of Kenny Dryden. Be still my heart. :p

No one can be certain of what the players have or haven't learned, we can only hope that a review of their past failures will help going forward. As for Maine, their fans should be super proud of their boys in blue and I would have liked to see them make it as well, however Wilson was exposed tonight for the weak goalie he is and it only would have been worse in the regionals. With Darling maybe, but no way Wilsieve. Nyquist certainly is a special player and they have a good supporting cast. However, UNH is deeper and more talented than both Maine and Vermont and IF they are prepared and bring their A game will represent HE just fine.

Re: UNH Wildcats - '10 Playoff Edition

I love that there's more UNH hockey in the future. I'm nervous about the outcome of the hockey:

Neutral Zone Trap: Can we beat it??? Ever?????
Defensive Breakdowns: Too many to count.
Offensive Impotence: Not that impotent, but sure frustrating sometimes...
Post-Season Coaching: Too hands-off for my taste.

I would LOVE to see UNH go all the way. Do I think this is the year? ... I wish, for all our seniors' sakes. Especially the seniors. That being said... Cornell? Red???? Biting my nails.
