UNH Recruits: 2012-2018

Re: UNH Recruits: 2012-2018

really? Banga was from Western Canada, and so his dad would have very little access. Are you thinking of Cordeiro? Or Dziedzuzicky?

I was going to remark how if Banga's dad was also on the staff's case, it must have been quite the group.

Never interacted with Dzed's dad, but Cordeiro's sat in our section, a few rows behind us. And his wife wasn't much better. The fact that Umile had coached high school hockey probably made him better prepared to deal with people like this.

Re: UNH Recruits: 2012-2018

Cordeiro's dad was legendary, as you know (first hand) more than most, Greg.

Of course, now young Ryan coaches HS hockey down in Southeastern MA ...

( - insert punch line here - ) :D

Re: UNH Recruits: 2012-2018

Josh confirmed that Admissions was the culprit, NOT because they rejected him but because they couldn't be bothered to look at his application on short notice in August.

Second hand information but I was told that this is the reason Lassonde left for Denver.

Re: UNH Recruits: 2012-2018

Aaron O'Neill transferred to BCHL in hopes he can find some offensive game there.

I must say that this quiet period during the Souza era is intriguing. In the other thread the discussion was about how recruiting was virtually the exclusive domain of SB, and that recruits "ddin't know anyone" else at UNH. This quiet period suggests less a transition than a complete new system being put into play. (Almost as if all of Borek's notes and leads were thrown out;:) Going from Souza's very short past history, one cannot say he has a particular pipeline. I can only assume he has made a lot of sales meetings with coaches in his proposed new pipeline just to get an introduction, perhaps not tied to any particular kids. In some ways, this lending of recruits to junior teams is part of the process. UNH has farmed Jason O"neill to Langley and now Aaron O'Neill to Chilliwack. (They did take Cippolone away from Vernon and send him to the USHL.) Combined with Stewart having connections out there, I would like to see UNH go back to the BCHL rather than recruiting kids from the US who then get lost on the lower lines of the USHL.

As to the Halifax visit by Souza, here's a potential target, now playing for Robbie Barker

Well, its nice to think they're adjusting their strategies, building relationships and targeting higher end kids, but I hope they don't take too long. They're going fast out in BC, too - Tufto off the board today (Quinnipiac). Time for them to take note of the kids they like and pounce, before its too late. They can start here...

As far as the British Columbia midget ranks, they should just follow the Penticton coach around as he recruits for his team...

Well, just learned via Facebook that this is actually the brother of a former softball recruit - and he has signed a MJ contract. This is what happens when you dilly-dally on the recruiting trail...

NCAA was the goal, but the waiting is the hardest part - http://www.ncsasports.org/mens-ice-hockey-recruiting/bc/surrey/southridge-school/ty-westgard

Yeah, its too bad. Kid is the real deal, has been for the last couple of years. Total NCAA recruiting miss. Wanted college. Too many biases in NCAA recruiting. Played for a miserable Surrey team that scouts wrongly disregarded. Stupid. Scouts missed RIT's Short, Bentley's Chugg and Davidson who now that he was moved to Penticton will end up being a prized NCAA recruit unless he bolts to the CHL as well.

But, why has Chugg been MIA so far this season?
