UNH Hockey 2023-2024 Season Thread - End Of The Cellar-Dweller Era??

This should be the nail and coffin to the MS7 experience. And no momentum into next weekend.

Hope that you are correct on MS7. We needed to sweep UVM, Yukon, Mack, and UML for any postseason hopes, and all that MS7 could manage were splits against the first three of these HEA cupcakes. So, we, too, are now officially a HEA cupcake.

I am 5-1 on my end of the season predictions and really nervous that my tie prediction for Friday is toast.

Not sure what the rotation with the D was tonight. It was all over the place. Ringer didn't last long as the 1st line center. Friday's lineup will be interesting to see if Lavin's comes back post suspension on the first, if Stiven's gets out of the doghouse, or Cy gets back to that line. Though that line played well tonight, we just have troubles hitting a 4x6 rectangle with shots.

Our Cats are now tied with the CC Tigers for 16th with 47 PWR points, 1 point behind 15th place Michigan.

In HEA standings we are still in 7th with 22 points, 2 points ahead of NU and UVM and 1 point behind Yukon, but with 3 games in hand.

I doubt that even a sweep of UML will maintain these positions in PWR and HEA. Loss to Merrimack tonight also probably puts a winning record for MS7 out of reach for this season.

Was not at Lawler, but sounds like the forward line compositions were chaotic? Seems like an odd time for a HC whose contract extension is in jeopardy to begin mixing up lines leading to scoring only one goal against the second worst team in HEA.

The forward lines were not as baffling as D. He switched Cy and Ring but then demoted Ring mid-game. It was the D rotation that constantly changed. It started matching the line sheet. My guess it was some rotation to get Alex out there every other shift.

I watched the 3rd from behind the MC net and I’d say more than 50% of shot attempts were over the net or into someone.

I'm not sure MS7 would know what a winning record was if it was handed to him. (Trying to be nice here) But he will know what an extension is as that WILL most likely be handed to him.

Just the fact that the team he coached lost out on what...9 HE points on my count...NINE UVM...Yukon..and now MC. Felt terrible for the team losing to an injury riddled team. Good for them.

Hasnt this gone on long enough???

Sorry I am abit disgusted...maybe "next year"...

I have to imagine at this point there will not be one. If this was coaching for an extension then the end of the year spiral will not lead to that direction. And if/when that happens I hope that we go outside the family.

This is like Belichick family tree. The hot coach is someone under him and that’s a disaster. McDaniels x2, Crommell, Weis, Judge, and and Patricia. Too bad the guy at MC is taken.

Ok so let me see if I have this right...you believe he would be winning these games...fighting for his collective career...fully knowing he could be canned?

Sorry...he won a few big games...turned the team somewhat around...but any extension should not be determined until the end of this season. And so far we will be lucky to get a home game in the first round.

But geeze...11 seasons of most likely NOT going to a Regional...to me is more than enough time to turn a program around and it has not happened..

If he does get extended it's for reasons beyond his "winning record" of November..

Peter T. Paul gave the U $25 million of his own, not someone else’s money. He bought himself the naming rights to a college and building. He didn’t become Dean of the business school. If I win Powerball and give the U a couple mill, do I get to be a head coach? Can I pick the team?

Lol I 'was joking' last night about that very thing...if I won ridiculous money I'd give it to the Whitt project ...but there would be strings attached if ya know what I mean...

I think Dandy Don Meredith sang it best, way back when, with this universal message of futility and resignation ...

I think money was given to the Pairwise Board of Governors. All these losses to bad teams and yet we just keep hanging on to 16. ; -)

For me, the vast majority would be directed to The Fund for New Hampshire Students. I’d ask to meet with Debbie Dutton or her designee first. One can dream.

I’m far from a PWR expert, but the RPI gaps are important. It’s also like the PGA leader board. You may be only two shots off the lead, but that ain’t so good if there are five players only one shot behind. I did see your wink emoticon. ’cats are not going to the NCAAs, will not even have a home playoff game unless they get it together.

On the plus side ESPN broadcast TX at UCLA softball on Friday right after the Eagles opened up a can of whup a$$ on us!

Meanwhile Ryan Day and Chip Kelly are back together again. Kelly leaves UCLA HC job to be Day’s OC at Ohio State. Pretty cool

No im saying this lame duck year was the time to show AD Rich there was something here and the program was trending in the right direction. If she felt he was the guy they would have done it already and not have that hanging over the collective heads.

Teams always have big wins even bad. This team could not adjust. They came out of the gate hot and whatever they were doing teams have found a way to counter and beat them.
