UNH Hockey 2023-2024 Season Thread - End Of The Cellar-Dweller Era??

In a night where only 3 goals could count towards +/- Huard gets 2 and Fitzy gets 1. I don't know how many Huard was out there for during the PK but at least a couple is my guess.

The wheels go fully off the bus tonight with a low scoring L @ Lawler. 3-2 Merrimack

Looks to be that Hellsten is wearing down. A lot has been asked of him

It’s not a wear down it’s you can’t give up 7 power plays against a team like BC. Though I agree tonight will be tough. One of your best defenders is out and probably for the year, Lavins suspended, and shuffled lines. Should be interesting

Nikolai is out and so is Lavin. Line shuffle for the night. See if this brings a spark to the team.

yeah I wondered about Nikolai...bet its a shoulder separation or something like it from the way he exited.
You going tonight? See you there if you are!

Believe it’s worse than that. We are going. Late getting tickets so seats will suck but will probably watch from Champions Club. I’ll look for you

NH native Ronan Walsh is listed as the extra forward on the line chart. It will be his first game as a Wildcat. Big frame, good for knocking bodies around in the tight confines of Lawler.

I am glad Babbo gets the nod tonight but not at the sake of losing Nikolai. And being stuck with Fitzy could cause problems defensively tonight. I think the first 2 D pair carry most of the load tonight, though Huard is more of a 5 than a 3.

This game is one of fear and panic. Seen by no look passes and trying to do too much. D getting beat on the outside and guys walking right in.

Snives, this is a fantastic analysis of the "cupcake quotient" for a wide range of candidates for the 12th slot in Hockey East. A decidedly non-cupcake option for HEA#12 that I raised late last year was RIT, which while it does not fall into the geography as an easy "fit", I think they'd be a great addition to the league. My guess is Commish Nigel and the HEA AD's would probably draw a line closer to the fringes of New England (say, RPI or Union, or something nearer to NYC like Army?), if they were ever to consider going out beyond Greater Boston or Connecticut? But I'm fond of the Rochester NY area, and I think they run their program better than some already in HEA. So that's my vote.

But if restricted to your proposed choices, you and I will probably agree to unite forces behind the Bentley Falcons. :-)

Stonehill just won their first game of the season tonight, at home, 4-2 over Lindenwood, so add Bridgewater Arena to Lawlor for our growing “a tough place to play” list.

Watching any chance we had albeit tenuous go up in PWR smoke...and the chance to make a dent in HE standings
is truly disappointing.

Bummer and totally within our reach.

Welp...just out of words I guess.

For once.

Here come the BlackBears ...
