UNH Football 2010

Re: UNH Football 2010

Pitt scores again early to make it 24-3, but UNH responds with an 89 yard TD drive of their own to make it 24-10 with just over 6 minutes left in the third quarter.

Re: UNH Football 2010

UNH defense has just spent too much time on the field today. Pitt marches it down field with relative ease and late in the third it's now 31-10 Panthers.

Re: UNH Football 2010

Fourth quarter underway and UNH is losing 31-10. Pitt has the ball to start the final quarter.

JMU is down by only 2 to Virginia Tech in the third, 16-14.

Re: UNH Football 2010

Getting ugly now as Pitt scores on a 65 yard TD run. Now 38-10 for the Panthers, with 10 and change left in the game.

Re: UNH Football 2010

1:13 left in the game and the Cats get a little closer scoring a short TD. PAT is no good and it's 38-16 Panthers.

Re: UNH Football 2010

Well the streak is over as the Cats lose to Pitt 38-16. No surprise here as the Cats were clearly over their heads in this one. They really held them for most of the first half. However a combination of not being able to move the ball offensively and too much time on the field defensively just caught up with them. I'm sure it was an amazing experience for our players and they accorded themselves quite well.

Lehigh next week in the last non-con of the year.

Re: UNH Football 2010

Gary Tanguay is an annoying twit. At one point he had URI lining up at "the 51 yard line."

UNH leads 15-10. UMass is ahead of Michigan right now, 10-7, and had a great chance to recover a fumble inside the Michigan 20 (but didn't).

Re: UNH Football 2010

UNH loses to previously 0-2 Rhode Island, 28-25. They were sloppy and undisciplined throughout.

Re: UNH Football 2010

that has to be the worst game McDonnell has ever coached. How in the hell does he manage to lose this one????? Uh... coach... here's a clue: RUN THE BALL WHEN YOU ARE RUNNING OUT THE CLOCK! DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For those that did not see the game, UNH had the ball with under 2:00 to play and a 3rd down at the URI 40 (approximately). UNH was leading 25-21. URI had used all of their timeouts trying to stop UNH on that drive and save some clock for once they got the ball back. What does McDonnell do on 3rd down???? PASSES! Unreal... and, of course, Toman gets blindside sacked and fumbles... and the linebacker picks up the ball and races 40+ yrds for the lead TD... and a 28-25 lead. It just boggles the mind. You know you think you have seen nearly everything, but no.

But really this game was lost well before that.... after taking a 15-3 lead on the first two drives (easy TDs), McDonnell goes flatline and totally changes up the gameplan to totally screen/QB keeper/slow hand off plays ... for the second and third quarters. Predictably, we get jack squat on offense.

I am just so sick of this coach. The guy is a great recruiter.. I will surely give him that, but his game management is effing pathetic and his clock management at the end of halves is nearly as poor. Why in the world when you have athletes like Terrance Fox, Joey Orlando, and Kevon Mason would you INSIST on NOT throwing downfield?? Every dam n throw was a screen pass. And, for having a QB that is a bit banged up, he sure had Toman keep the ball a lot and run and take hits.

I don't know. This game not only was winnable, it was blowout-able if there was a different mindset on board. Chip Kelly, where have you gone???? Oh yeah... Oregon. Sigh.....

Well.. Pitt-UNH at Heinz drew 50K.... so UMass-UNH at Foxboro should be able to get half that, you would think. Tickets have to be easy to get.

Re: UNH Football 2010

UNH playing Richmond today at Cowell. The Wildcats lead 7-0 with 12:29 left in the first half.

Re: UNH Football 2010

Not exactly a fire works show in the first half for either team offensively. After a half it's 7-0 UNH.

Re: UNH Football 2010

Game over, Cats win 17-0. Nice to get a win today, although clearly offensively we have some serious issues. The defense was amazing today nabbing several turnovers.

6 INT's (1 off the starter, pick six, then he busted his knee on the play, 5 off of the 3rd string QB/punter :D ) and at least one fumble recovery.... both D's played well, UNH's offense does need work..

Re: UNH Football 2010

UNH leading UMass 15-0 in the third quarter. This one is being played at Gillette stadium today and so far UNH has clearly been the better team.
