UNH Football 2010

Re: UNH Football 2010

UNH pick off Towson on the ensuing drive and then Toman hits Green who was wide open for a TD. With 4:08 to play in the first Q it's 14-3 UNH.

Re: UNH Football 2010

RJ Toman has a leg injury and Decker has come in to replace him. Apparently it looks like it may be a knee injury. 1:00 left in the first Q, 14-3 Wildcats.

Re: UNH Football 2010

End of the first quarter, Cats lead 14-3. They were taping Toman's ankle so it may not be a total disaster.

Re: UNH Football 2010

A long TD drive is capped off by a Decker to Auffray pass. It's 31-3 Cats with 1:20 left in the half.

Re: UNH Football 2010

So this year's tournament will play out this way, IIRC:

- 20 teams selected
- Top 12 get byes; teams 13-20 will play to narrow the field to 16 teams
- Then it's just like the old tourney, except the title game gets moved to early January

Is this right?

Also, I'd imagine that UNH's chances of hosting go up, because those 13-20 teams might be likelier to have facilities that are even more embarrassing than UNH's, right?

I think you nailed it. My understanding is that if/when UNH beats Towson today they will have a first round bye, which I imagine means they get to host at least one game.

I was thinking they may end up around 13-16, since they have four losses, but to be honest I don't know enough aboout where everybody else stands.

There will be four bye teams that would not host second-round games, so I'm thinking their best chance to host is actually in the 13-20 games. If they end up against a bigtime FCS program they'd definitely travel.

Should be interesting either way. I thought their playofff streak was done after the W&M catastrophe. Usually losing a home game to a team playing its fourth-string QB would be your death knell. ;)

The UNH radio guys were just talking about this and they made some good points. UNH has won 5 of their last 6 (presumably the toughest part of their sked), and four of those wins were against highly ranked (at the time) teams. So that may be enough to push them into the top 12.

Interesting. I hadn't even considered that as a possibility. That'd be great.

Re: UNH Football 2010

Weird turn of events. Towson fumbles on the UNH one, which UNH recovers. The first play from scrimmage and the Cats get tackled in the endzone for a safety. Now 31-5 for UNH.

Re: UNH Football 2010

Towson scores a couple of late TD's and UNH wins it 38-19.

Villanova is leading Delaware 21-14 in the second half, which would be a good win for UNH if the score holds.

Now it's in the hands of the committee. LET'S GO CATS!!!

Re: UNH Football 2010

Villanova has beaten Delaware 28-21 in OT, a good result for us, I believe.

UMass is leading URI 28-20 in the fourth.

Re: UNH Football 2010

UNH made it in as a top 12 team and will play at Bethune-Cookman in two weeks.

(1) Appalachian State
Western Illinois/Coastal Carolina

Villanova
Stephen F. Austin

(5) Eastern Washington
SE Missouri State

(4) Montana State
Robert Morris/North Dakota State

(3) Delaware
Lehigh/Northern Iowa

New Hampshire
Bethune-Cookman

Wofford
Jacksonville State

(2) William & Mary
South Carolina State/Georgia Southern

Re: UNH Football 2010

Bit of a tough go for UNH as they will likely play Delaware if the Cats beat Bethune-Cookman. Gotta root for Northern Iowa to get past Lehigh (nearly a given) and topple Delaware, so that UNH can get a second home game.

Great time of year!!
