UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

Re: UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

Well, how do you like d'em apples? :D BC recruit goes down and now outshined by a 16yr old. Great for the kid!

Re: UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

I thought I has seen an 'Eiserman' committ to them.. Kid pulled the trigger pretty early. I guess he could have gone to MC if he really wanted to be close to home.

As Watcher's post showed ... Lowell fans had kinda been hoping this commit was coming, as Chris was quoted in a Newburyport News article when his brother gave his verbal to Lowell, talking about how he loved the campus as well and wanted to play with his brother.

Re: UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

Ha yeah, I was so upset while waiting for the page to load, thought he had gone to Kamloops or decomitted for some other reason. I am excited to watch him play.

Speaking of recruits.. Jeff Silengo seems to be struggling quite a bit in the USHL. Anyone have any info on the kid? He was a hit in prep school wasn't he?

Caught Westside's 6-1 win over Langley last night - really a good game, until Westside scored four times in the last two minutes of the third period.

Two more goals for Cam Reid, that gives him 3-2--5 in the two games I've seen him play this year. He has outgrown the BCHL, just a dominating presence on the ice all night long...

Quiet night for Downing, but still he played well - again, always around the puck and in the middle of opportunities...

Looking at Scissons stats - it looks like he saw an increased role while Reid and Downing were playing with Canada West and seemingly took advantage of it!

Hoping to see Laleggia on Dec. 19th, when Penticton comes to Surrey...

I really appreciate these real time, first hand reports. They're terrific.
When these kids come in as freshman and start out slowly and don't get much ice time, we tend to forget that they have excelled at each level of development. These reports remind us that all Division 1 recruits are talented.

Re: UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

I'll be off to watch the Indiana Ice game tomorrow; nothing else to do. Besides Agosta and Goumas there are a number of names on the Chicago Steel roster that I will be interested in seeing.

Re: UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

You can fill us in on Jay Camper.

UNH's proud tradition of recruiting the lesser-talented younger brother continues

Krys/Mark Kolanos
Tony/Mike Hutchins
George/Greg Boudreau
Chris/Greg Collins
Phil/Blake Kessel

Re: UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

Yandle & Ciocco on the flip side of the equation as well.

consider.. Haydar, Hemmingway(ended up with both) JVR and Reid as claiming the more talented sibling.

Watcher.. what's the scoop on Camper? First yr in USHL, not doing poorly, but not doing great.

Re: UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

From last night's Indiana Ice Chicago Steel game:

I thought GOumas looked good last night. Showed speed and quickness. Created a good deal in the offensive zone both for his teamates and for himself. Had much more ice time than the first time I saw him. If he is going to do this year and next in the USHL he could turn out to be a typical UNH forward. Not sure how his scoring touch is, but he had two the first time I saw him play. Want to see him again.

Agosta - got in a fight at the drop of the puck in the second. Pretty funny to see a "fight" at this level. He and the biggest player for Chicago went at it. Slight advantage to the Chicago player.

New UNH recruit Camper - didn't stand out, but did not look out of place. Looked like a decent player that can use the development time. Haven't looked at any stats but is about the same size, maybe a little bigger than Goumas.

From Chicago - Krushelnyski - didn't stand out, but wasn't really looking for him after the first period. I liked Olczyk - needs to fill out and, as with Goumas and Camper, just needs the development time. Don't know where he is going to college. Anthoine - going to Maine. I liked him. Noticed him when he was out on the ice.

Watcher - know anything on the kid from Russia on Chicago - Kuchin? You definitely noticed him on the ice. Pretty fast and could stickhandle. Don't know if he got back on D, but he was fun to watch when he had the puck. He created.

Re: UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

I should also mention that SteveF, Chris and darin should come out for a game here. They wouldn't think UNH fans are hicks.

The Pepsi Coliseum is located on the Indiana State Fairgrounds right next to the Blue Ribbon Pavilion and the Sheep building. Inside you can see a banner hanging in the rafters remembering that Wayne Gretzky played for Indiana back in '78. Of course that hangs right next to the banner commemorating the World Pork Expo held here in '91, '97 and '03. And better yet - you can get Crown Royal at the game to go with your corn dog. Good times.

Man I have nothing to do out here ...

Carl, you're one of the all-time greatest guys on the board. But... I don't know, I still think I'd consider UNH fans hicks. And, yes, I've been to Indiana (there's a mediocre football school located in South Bend that my mediocre football team finally lost to this year) and yes, it's not a very exciting place (but neither in NH... ok, I am lying, I had a great time up in the White Mts this summer).

I'm impressed you can get Crown Royal at a hockey game, there, though.

the only thing finer than a crown and coke are two crowns and cokes.

Re: UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

Ciocco update from USHR:
Former Cushing defenseman Julian Ciocco, a ’93 from Atco, NJ who has not played since he was at the Guelph Storm’s camp in September, has accepted Geoff Marottolo’s offer to check out the Philadelphia Revolution organization. Ciocco will play with one of the organization's three teams -- not necessarily the EJHL team -- in order to find out where he's at vis-a-vie hockey.

Re: UNH commitments/recruits for 2010 and beyond

Ciocco update from USHR:

Does this mean he still retains college eligibility (I'll assume it does if you are posting the news here?) or did he forgo any eligibility when he signed?

What is the reason for his not playing at Guelph?

If eligible, does UNH still have the money/space available on the blueline??

2011-12 Defenseman
Kessel, SR* / Kostolansky, JR
Hardowa, JR / Laleggia, SO
Chevrier, FR / Knoedel, SO
Kipp, SR / Agosta, SO

* Early Departure??
