UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

Just a great college hockey game to witness. As I said earlier, special teams and goaltending would be the deciding factor, and that proved to be the case. UND getting the shorty early in the 2nd period was the turning point, IMO. After that, they turned up the jets to full burn and never let up on the throttle. Fun to watch.

It will be interesting to see how both teams react this evening. A lot of energy was expended on both sides last night.

I for one can't wait to find out.

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

The fan's opinion on reffing is not worth a great deal.

I will say that the refs were CONSTANTLY in the way of play. The game came at them way too fast. That didn't usually happen in the C, but then games weren't played at that speed in the C, either.

Both points are fair. Very rarely have there been teams in the C that had the speed AND talent of these two teams. A few teams typically at the top of the standings, but probably not in the past five years.

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

1)
5) Even though the NoDak team I saw tonight looked far superior than any michigan team I've seen in the last 12 years UNO proved without a doubt they can compete with anyone.

So what you are getting at is that UND > any Michigan team in the past 12 years, but UNO can compete with them, so... UNO 2010-11 >Michigan past 12 years?

Your team just had that chance this season and split against a lesser talented Michigan team than some of their previous teams in the past 12 years.

Faulty logic.

Well, he didn't say that UNO > any Michigan team in the last 12 years. He simply said that they could compete with them. Which I agree with (the competing part, not necessarily that this Sioux team is better than any Michigan team in the last 12 years).

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

Awesome game all around. Talked to a few Sioux fans who came down for the game, good people, seemed to be excited about having "new blood" in the league as they called it.

My thoughts:
- As mentioned earlier, the refs got inthe way of the play A LOT, they need to skip the pre-game visit to the funnel cake stand.
- The two teams were pretty much mirror images of the other, fast, physical, skill all over the ice. This series will be fun for a long time.
- Faulkner's 5 second brain lapse was the tipping point. He makes that save on the wraparound, the Mavs don't spend the next two minutes reeling, UND doesn't score the 6th goal. (Goal 6 for UND was a nice play though)
- Shots were dead even, UNO had more quality shots

I'm going back to watch tonight, hopefully the Mavs can win this one to split. Hats off to UND though, they came in and played hard and earned the win. It was really cool seeing all the UND fans that made the trip, didn't expect there to be that many.

LOOKED being the operative word here. I've never seen any michigan team skate as fast as NoDak did last night. And judging teams by draft picks michigan has way more talent than UNO. I think you're in love with Rick or you wouldn't be following him around.

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

Let's go SIOUX!! Finish the sweep tonight , 3 WCHA road sweeps before thanksgiving would be great

That would be a little rediculous. Apparently this team is going with the old saying "Sweep on the road, split at home" :p:D:D

Hopefully they can get it done. UNO is a good team and they will be playing lights out tonight. If we can score early, that could take a little wind out of their sails and lead us to victory.

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

I think early on Dell was a little nervous at starting. Now he is getting his confidence and it is showing in his play. I think he has earned the right as UND's No.# 1 goalie by his play as it should be!

Go Sioux!!!

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

It's nice to see another serious player in the conference, particularly one that is surging under the Old Master. Nice also to hear all the good things people being said about UNO fans being hockey-wise and engaging. I'm feeling a little troubled, though, at the thought that this program could be in the embryonic stages of something gopher-like. I'm even become suspicious of that Blais gap-toothed smile. Is this gopher spawn? Do we need to crush the life out of it now, while we can?

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

Congrats on earning the split UNO. I wouldn't be as frustrated about you winning if the GWG was actually legit and didn't result from your players coming in offsides.

I love hearing Sue fans whine about the officials. it is so heartwarming, and predictable. Really, when your team has the puck behind the other teams net with 10 seconds to go, you shouldn't let them walk all over you.

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

The refs weren't calling offside tonight. Not that UNO was offside. Both teams looked very tired for the first 50 minutes.

Just as predictable as you coming into a UND-related thread and professing your love for the Sioux and its fans. *thumbs up*

Anyways, saw a screencap and learned a bit more on the rules in regards to offsides. Didn't know the player carrying the puck can enter the zone before the puck does. So I rescind my comment on it not being a legit goal.

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

As I mentioned on the other thread...based on the video I have seen of the goal...the play doesn't appear to be offsides.

And if your love for Michigan wasn't any clearer, you wouldn't have anti-weasel for your sig.

Nice win, Mavs.
