UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

Just as predictable as you coming into a UND-related thread and professing your love for the Sioux and its fans. *thumbs up*

Anyways, saw a screencap and learned a bit more on the rules in regards to offsides. Didn't know the player carrying the puck can enter the zone before the puck does. So I rescind my comment on it not being a legit goal.

I wouldn't of needed to do it if you weren't wrongly whining about the refs.

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

WOW. By poking in an offside goal with .0001 left. From the looks of the celebration, UNO just won the national championship. Congrats losers! Hope this makes you feel better about your ****ty program!

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

I'd like to add that defensive breakdown shouldn't have happened in the first place (Don't even make me do a freeze frame on the offside....).

Talk about a wild finish though.

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

Congrats to UNO and their fans.

I'm a BC fan living in New York and visiting Boston for the Maine series. One of these times I'll have to tie in a UNO game with a KC Chiefs visit the same weekend.

Got to ask--is the media still ignoring the Mavs out there? I had to search real hard on the Omaha World Record web site for a game story. It seems as though the U. of Nebraska obsession still holds. I remember one UNO fan once telling me: "We could sweep at Michigan State and all we'd read about is the latest Cornhusker football player arrested."

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

Congratulations to the Mavs. Nice to see a program in full bloom with talent, a great coach, and an A1 fanbase. Tough to lose a game like that for us Sioux fans but cool to see the dogpile at the end. This is a great game--gotta enjoy what it gives you.

Yeah, you have to do some clicking to find stories from the OWH on the web, but they're there. The coverage is getting better, though thanks to Chad Purcell of the OWH.

What a finish last night!!!!! Tough to swallow if you're a Sioux fan, but on the other hand.....

And, many many props to the Sioux faithful who made the trek to Omaha. You represented very well. Thanks for coming. Your contingent contributed to the great atmosphere both nights. Hope you enjoyed your visit.

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

I'll echo the sentiments. Both nights we had great games that could have easily gone either way.

One was an offensive showcase and the other was a defensive showcase.

Surrounding that were two impressive crowds made up of Mav fans and Sioux fans who made it even more enjoyable.

The Sioux fans were great, very loud, and courteous.

After these games (and assuming the talent levels for both teams stays consistent) I could see this becoming a GREAT rivalry.

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

UND: You have just a terrific hockey team, and you have some terrific fans who were as cordial in the concourses Saturday as they were Friday. As I told them, I tell you: Go win the NC this year, and we'll win it next. I'm planning on seeing the Cathedral in January. I look forward to it.

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

Having a goal scored with less than a second remaining is exciting, and you'd think this goal was the closest to the buzzer, especially last night. It wasn't. Ferris scored a goal, last night with .1 second remaining, in the first period, to tie the game against Western Michigan. Thank goodness for video replay, in both instances.

Re: UND vs. UNO Let it begin!

This weekend was a celebration of college hockey. The loss Friday was one of the best games I've ever seen, and Saturday had a completely different feel. UND is very, very good, and you have a team that is very easy to respect and root for. Faulkner tonight was the best player on the ice, in a game UNO needed him to be, and then kudos to the five men in red at the end of the game that decided to try and get one more rush.

I echo Rick, Unomaholic, and Section 96's sentiments, if there are others I missed I apologize, but the UND fans added an awful lot to the games this weekend. You were gracious winners Friday, and classy after a stunning game Saturday. Good luck to your team the rest of the way, except for a couple games in January, and maybe one or two more down the line

Safe travels for those on their way home, I hope to see some of you again in Minnesota in March!

Awwwww. Did someone ****** in your Cheerios?

To the Sioux fans that I had the pleasure of talking with last night, thanks for coming out to support your team. What a fun weekend of hockey.

:p:D:D I think somebody did something to his Cheerios...my goodness.

It was a very exciting win over a top team in the conference...I'd be excited too.

Good weekend of hockey, hopefully when these two teams meet again this season the games are just as good.

Watching the official video repeatedly, pausing at 07 seconds this play does not appear to be off sides. As to your other comment about a ****ty program, did you happen to watch the games? If UNO is so bad how come you only one by 1 goal Fri? Both nights were hard fought, both teams are very talented. ND may have glory in their past that UNO does not yet have, but UNO's program is quickly gaining the credit they deserve. The next meeting should be even more exciting.
