Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

How many Super Bowl winners have gotten owned on national television during the same year?

Just curious, I have no idea.

I am sure plenty...but I guess it depends what you mean by "National Television". Plenty of teams that have made the Super Bowl and won the Super Bowl have been owned during the season. I remember the Pats getting owned by the Bills, the Giants getting owned by the Vikes, (the Giants I believe lost a few pretty bad games that year) last year Arizona getting owned by the Vikes last year...it isnt as rare as you think. (this is just off the top of my head I could do research into it later)

But alas we shall never know since the season is most assuredly over! :p

How about the wild-arse throws that OldBrettFavre threw tonight?
As someone who has felt this pain many times before, I'll let you know it hurts a little less each time.

Handyman, you brought up a good point about the Giants having some clunkers along the way a couple of seasons ago. I knew they looked awful a few times so I looked it up. They gave up 80 points to Dallas and Green Bay to start out 0-2. They also got throttled 41-17 by the Vikings in late November. I couldn't tell you how many people were watching those games, but when the Giants lost they didn't skimp.

So there's still a chance we can get blown the * out in the Super Bowl! :D

And with it go the chances of a new stadium. Ziggy may as well pull a Baltimore Colts and move the team to LA in the dead of night.
The Baltimore Colts were moved to Louisiana?

Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

The Cards got throttled 4 times last year (including by 40 to NE one of the last games of the season) and still made it to the Super Bowl and almost won. I am willing to bet if you went back in the last 20 years and looked at the teams that made the big game over half have a game where they just got dismantled. It happens in every sport.

But we are speaking in hypotheticals since the LA Vikings have no chance seeing as the season is now of course kaput! :p

Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

It looked like a Brad Childress coached team from the last couple of years. With an offense that didn't do much and a defense that would give up a lot of big pass plays.

The only teams the Vikings have beat with winning records are Baltimore and Green Bay.

Of course with a make-shift offensive line and being without Winfield hurt last night. Should be interesting to see who steps up for E.J.

My guess is they will do what they did last year which was, I believe, move Greenway to the middle. Lets be honest EJ wasn't doing much anyways which was to be expected after missing most of last season.

I am more worried about the offensive line...they need Herrara to get healthy and hope the Loadholt and McKinnie injuries last night arent the start of a trend.

Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

Yeah, look how he broke EJ's leg and injured Loadholt and McKinnie.

I think if a guy should be fired, then brings in a HOF QB...has one decent season he shouldn't be extended.

He is a terrible coach and imagine if Favre retires after this year.

Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

Perhaps the team got complacent. Perhaps a bad loss will show everyone they have to work hard every week no matter what. Cardinals were underrated anyhow.

So you can justtify not extending a coach who has improved the team EVERY YEAR that he's been the coach. 6-10, 8-8, 10-6 (Division title). As much as I'm not a huge Childress fan...as long as he keeps improving the team, I see no reason to get rid of him.

The team simply got manhandled at the line of scrimmage on O and D. Given that's the only time this year it happend I'm not sure the end is already here yet.

And TBA are you saying Childress has never won a game the Vikings weren't the favorite? The team has improved every year and despite just a few head-scratching decisions they are better than when he got here.

They also have a lot more talent than when he got here. AFAIK, he's not in on draft day decisions, and the only free agent that can really be credited to him directly is BrettFavre, but that is a big one.

Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

1. I should have clarified that I would not have extended him until after the season
2. AFAIK he is part of the drafting process
