UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

I wonder if they are looking at Greg Carey (31-50-24-74) who's putting up big numbers for Burlington (CCHL) this season. He's currently second in the league in scoring behind his teammate Josh Jooris who's heading to Union. Carey is also a former teammate of Colin Wright, Tim Carr and Michael Budd.

Carey commits to St Lawrence.

Yeah, I saw that this morning as well. Oh well, since it's so hard to know in college hockey who's recruiting who ... we have no idea if Lowell was looking into him (or vice versa).

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

It looks like Doug Carr will probably be out for another 3 weeks.

Luckily, the injuries for goalie Doug Carr (groin) and captain Jacob Laliberte (thumb) may be shorter-term setbacks.

The results of Carr's MRI are now known, and the coach said no surgery will be necessary. "He'll probably be out for another three weeks,'' said MacInnis, adding that Will Landa and affiliate Alex Chretien likely will share the goaltending duties.

Terrence Wallin had a goal and an assist in Gunnery's 8-2 win over Hotchkiss on Monday. Wallin now has 14 points (8-6-14)

I'm really excited to see how this kid plays at the HE level. He's got 14 points in his team's 15 games (but supposedly hasn't played in all 15). Could Lowell finally have somewhat of a sniper recruit?

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Will Rayner was back in the lineup for Lincoln on Tuesday night after being out since mid October with an injury. He's only played in 6 of Lincoln's 31 games.

No. Huge adjustment and will not be an impact first year or 2. Neither will the Brickley kid. 2 good players but will be 3rd/4th line at best in HE.

It'll be interesting to see if Wallin stays at Gunnery next season, or plays a higher level of juniors?

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

I am sure Blaise knows what he is doing but we are talking about a player that is 6th on his team in scoring, in a watered down league and not top 75 in league. UML looks to have the most committs of any program. Are they just trying to go with big numbers and hope some work out or are they replacing that many kids.

UML has more then any other Hockey East school by a mile, over 17 on Heisenberg list as of today. Some have 3-5 kids, BC and BU combined dont equal Lowell.

I hope this is not setting it up for a ton of unhappy campers in the stands

You have to remember, those 17 are for the next three years. The team does lose 13 seniors this year, plus one transfer.

Wallin is also two years away from joining Lowell. He's also missed some games supposedly.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Marc Boulanger continued his good play, making 17 saves on 19 shots in a 7-2 Grizzlys win.

UNH has a large number of commitments (15) for the next couple of years too, and they just added another Van Riemsdyk according to USHR.

I think the 15 will include TVR. They would have had 16, but lost a good one (Cam Reid) to SCSU.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Even with so many commitments, it's been a quite couple of weeks in regards to results as 5 of the 17 haven't been playing. With Nick Curry's NAHL team back in action this weekend, as well as both the Jr Monarchs and the Jr Bruins ... things should pick up.

Last night, Colton Saucerman was a -2 in Des Moines 6-3 loss.
Julian Melchiori had an assist in Newmarket's 5-3 win.
Scott Wilson had no points in Georgetown's 3-2 loss.

In what I believe was a make up game, the Jr Monarchs beat the Jr Bruins yesterday 2-1. T.J. Massie was named the 3rd star for making 34 saves. Bill Eiserman had 2 minutes in penalties in the game.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Derek Arnold has 2 goals so far tonight and has seemed to have found his scoring touch. Lowells gain, U Maines loss

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Bad night for Marc Boulanger (33 saves on 38 shots) and his Grizzlys as they lost 6-2.

Tyler Brickler's Westside squad crushed Williams Lake 10-1. Brickler had an assist in the game.

Will Rayner was a +2 in Lincoln's 5-1 win over Indiana.

Derek Arnold had 2 goals in Waterloo's 5-0 win over Tri-City. And he was the game's first star.

Colton Saucerman had no points in Des Moines 6-3 loss to Fargo.

Brockville won yet another game (24 in a row I believe) 2-1, but Shayne Thompson was held scoreless.

Scott Wilson had a goal and 2 assists in Georgetown's 4-1 win over Bramalea.

Nick Curry didn't play for Springfield in their 3-2 win.

Also don't think it was mentioned here, but the EJHL's All-Star roster is out. Possible UML recruit (at least I'm hoping) Matt Esposito is on the roster. UML commit Joe Pendanza is on the roster.

Monty, It looks like Curry has missed a few games due to injury.
[The Blues, who have 11 days off until their next game Jan. 15 at Topeka, were without forwards Nick Curry, Mike Schaber and Trent Frey for the second straight game. Curry is out with a concussion, Schaber has a deep bone bruise in his foot and Frey has the flu.
