Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Stats for UML recruits through last night as all the teams will be taking time off for Christmas break.

Marc Boulanger has saved all 50 shots his team has faced the last two games, moving himself up in the AJHL's GAA rankings.

Also Shayne Thompson's Brockville teams win streak is up to 21 games, having last lost October 25th.

*Pendanza's 7 PPG are tied for third in the EJHL. His current point total puts him in a tie for 24th.
*Thompson's 55 points have currently 9th in CJHL scoring, even though he missed a few games due to a knee injury.
*Melchiori's 20 points have him tied for 12th amongst all defensemen in the CCHL. He missed four games playing for Team Canada East in the World Junior A Challenge.
*C. Eiserman is currently fifth in the EJHL in GAA and ninth in save %.
*TJ Massie is currently sixth in the EJHL in GAA and fifth in save %.
*Brickler was traded to the Westside Warriors on November 18th. While with Sioux City, his numbers were 0-3-3 in just 5 games played.
*Wallin's Gunnery season started on December 5th but stats for prep leagues are tough to get. Gunnery's 3-0-1 so far, and the only stat I've found is that Wallin had the game-tying goal late in the third in their 3-3 tie last week.
*Boulanger is 8th in the AJHL in GAA.
*Rayner was placed on the 45 day IR in mid-October.
*Curry is tied for 4th in the NAHL in scoring.
*Carr is third in the CJHL in GAA with a 2.48, and is second in save percentage. Also, I've noted his 1 OT loss and his 2 Shootout losses as ties for now, until I have more time to change the formatting above.

Thanks Bob. According to Gunnery's own site, they've only played four games, so I have no idea what's going on.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Lowell got another great player from the USHL yesterday, their recruiting is really taking off, this should be a good team next year.

that'd be versatile waterloo forward/defenseman derek arnold, a '90 birthdate from foxboro. 13 points in 24 games this year.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Hopefully, he scores a goal for you before he graduates.........
Bitter much?

He scored 20 in 52 games last year for the Blackhawks. He hasn't scored yet this year. Since I haven't seen him play, I have no idea if he's snake bit, or what (he's averaging more shots on goal than he did last year). He was pretty highly recruited when he originally chose Maine. Whatever reason he decided to decommit and come to Lowell ... I hope he has a good career and gets a good education at my alma mater.

BTW, from the Waterloo site ...
This season, he has surpassed his assist mark from a year ago in just 24 games, while also being asked on several occasions to move from his natural position back to defense.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

For whatever reason? I'll give you a few reasons:

1. Whitehead.
2. Orono. Hey Lowell isn't going to win any awards for best places to live but it's better than Orono and part of civilized society.
3. He wanted electricity and indoor plumbing

Shall I go on?

You'd be bitter too if you were a Maine fan and all their recruits were jumping that sinking ship.

Sandie, you seem like good Maine fan, a smart and loyal one. But make no mistake about this fact. Whitehead has ruined maines reputation in USHL and BCHL and for that matter, Ontario. No one wants to deal with him, talk with him or be recruited by him. He jerks kids around and they talk. Just look at the other schools and what they have accomplished over the past 18 months and then lookm at maine. a goalie who couldnt decomitt fast enough and a 5'3" Forward who plays on an ex players midget team. not even a junior team
When the kids see the ME jackets, they walk away.

BTW, Sandie isn't a Whitehead fan, you're preaching to the choir in his case:p

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Last night:
- Shayne Thompson had a goal and an assist in Brockville's 7-1 win over Carleton Place.
- Julian Melchiori had an assist in Newmarket's 2-1 win over Streetsville.
- Tyler Brickler was scoreless in Westside's 7-3 win over Salmon Arm
- Derek Arnold was held scoreless in Waterloo's 4-3 loss to Youngstown.

Chad Ruhwedel is currently serving a 2 game league suspension. The suspension appears to
be the result of a recent game with Fargo.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Doug Carr played only the first period for the Cornwall Colts last night, saving all 9 shots he faced. Not sure why he was replaced going into the second in the Colts 2-1 loss.

Also that game had a total of 305 penalty minutes. Nice!

Also a nice article about Carr's commitment to Lowell in the Cornwall paper this morning. From the article:
"The biggest thing is the playing opportunity," Carr said. "They said I had a good chance of coming in and playing."

Carr will be one of two freshmen battling for the top spot, and there'll be a sophomore-year puck-blocker who isn't currently playing at the NCAA level on the roster.
