UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Scott Wilson and Georgetown start their playoff run tonight, they're currently trailing 1-0 to Villanova.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

I don't think its so much that he reinjured it as much as it was that it didn't heal well coming off the initial injury and when he tried to go he just couldn't move well enough to play games at a high enough level.
This is a big loss for Cornwall. Landa,Carr's backup, has not shown the type of netminding that will be needed to beat Brockville or Pembroke.

"Colts goaltender Doug Carr is expected to make his return to the starting lineup tonight. The puck-blocker was hoping to play last week against Carleton Place, but his groin injury required another week of rest"

From this morning's Cornwall newspaper.

Wilson finished 1-2-3 in a 8-3 win for Georgetown in the first game of their playoff series.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Derek McCoy and Valley had a 5-1 win last night, with McCoy scoring the first goal of the game.

Springfield and Nick Curry lost last night 3-1 on the road. Curry had no points.

A few UML recruits will be/are in action tonight.

Julian Melchiori and the Newmarket Hurricanes are in the CCHL quarters, with game 1 at home tonight.

Scott Wilson and Georgetown are playing Game 2 of their series, having won game 1 at home. This one is on the road.

Doug Carr IS in net for Cornwall tonight in their regular season game in the CJHL.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Doug Carr has been pulled in the Cornwall game. I was just checking to see how he was doing and he was pulled with Cornwall up 3-0. At the time he left the game, there appears to have been a huge fight at the same point... it'll be interesting tomorrow morning to find out what happened.

sweet :)

Gotta imagine some numbskull was going after him or something... is that the only penalty at that point in time? Sounds like he ran out and brained somebody.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Doug Carr's season is very likely done! My source says he'll have to have surgery b4 he plays anymore hockey. This leaves his team,Cornwall Colts, with only one goalie. he was told back in Dec when the injury occurred that it might heal enough to play this season but would need surgery after this season.

Colts will be happy your source was wrong.

Not really. It was a line brawl and one of his teammates who isn't willing or able to defend himself was getting ****kicked about 20 feet in front of Carr. He dropped his stick, glove and blocker and pulled the Smiths Falls player off Mason. The two of them just shoved each other around with no punches thrown. I don't know how the ref determined that he hit anyone in the head with his blocker but that was the call. If anything it should have been 3rd man in.
Its bad enough that Carr was thrown out of the rest of this game but he also received another game misconduct. Other than the first two players that fought everyone else on the ice received this same double game misconduct.

Its not so much my source was wrong. He was told by Carr his season was over. The fact that he played doesn't take away the fact that he is seriously hampered by this injury. His movements are way more that tenative, side to side and any forward push seem very slow and labored. He played a standup style with almost no crouch or athletic movements, much different than b4.
I believe Carr is gutting out the rest of the season with hope that he can compensate for his injury.

Game sheet says only one misconduct. Blocker to the head is an automatic match penalty and a minimum three-game suspension. No match penalty on game sheet either. Might be a one-game suspension for a major hit-to-the-head penalty?

As you said on a prior post, Carr was defending his defender who had two guys from the other team on him. 11 of the 12 players on the ice got kicked out, the other goalie was the only one who didn't join in. Here's the article, which also includes a couple of comments by Carr regarding his injury.

Other recruit news ... Julian Melchiori's Newmarket Hurricanes won the first game of their quarterfinal series 2-1 in OT last night. Melchiori was even for the game.

One night after beating Villanova 8-3 at home, Georgetown blew a 4-2 lead on the road and lost 5-4. Scott Wilson had assisted on the opening goal.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

and the circle of foolishness continues to churn around and around

If these kids are trying to get ready for college hockey, where they cant fight, period. It needs to stop. Amazing that we watch hockey where 20 year olds are allowed to beat up 16 yearn olds but in D 1, whee these kids strive to play, if a 24 and 25 year old fight, they get suspended and the coach probably adds to it.

Its all about selling tickets and beer

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

In playoff action last night, the AJHL Olds Grizzlys lost 3-2 at home in 2OT in the first game of their series. Marc Boulanger was named the Home Star making 54 saves on 57 shots. The Grizzlys were outshot 57-25. Ouch.

In the BCHL playoffs, the Westside Warriors lost 6-3 in the first game of their series at home. UML recruit Tyler Brickler had an assist for the home team.

In OPJHL playoff action, Scott Wilson had a 1-2-3 in Georgetown's game 3 win over Villanova. They're now up 2-1 in the series.

In a regular season game in the USHL, Des Moines lost at home 6-2 to Team USA. Colton Saucerman had no points and was a -3 for the game.

Sioux Falls scored the first goal, but then gave up 5 straight losing to Green Bay 5-1. Josh Holstrom (E) and Chad Ruhwedel (-2) had no points for Sioux Falls.

Will Rayner (-2) had no points for Lincoln in their 4-0 home loss to Omaha.

Derek Arnold had a 1-3-4 in Waterloo's 8-2 win over Fargo. Arnold has now crept up to a tie for 20th in USHL scoring.

Brockville's Shayne Thompson had two assists in their 4-1 win over Cornwall in the CJHL. Cornwall's Doug Carr was named the third star with 29 saves on 33 shots in a losing effort.

Springfield's Nick Curry (-1) had an assist in their win in the NAHL on the road at Janesville.

In the EJHL, Joe Pendanza had the GWG in the Jr. Bruins 4-0 win over Valley. TJ Massie didn't play for the Jr. Bruins and Derek McCoy didn't play for Valley.

Third star in game @ Brockville. 25 saves on 25 shots the night before. Looks to be compensating quite nicely.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

In last night's games for UML recruits:
In the OPJHL playoffs, Georgetown took a 3-1 lead in their series with a 5-4 OT win. Scott Wilson had a goal.

In the AJHL playoffs, the Olds Grizzlys lost their second straight game at home, 2-1. For the second night Marc Boulanger's offense didn't help him, as he made 29 saves on 31 shots.

In the CCHL playoffs, Newmarket scored a 4-3 2OT win. Julian Melchiori had no points in the win.

In USHL regular season play, Waterloo lost to Youngstown 6-4 at home. Derek Arnold had a 1-1-2 in the game and was named the third star.

In Green Bay, Josh Holmstrom helped Sioux Falls win on the road with a 3-2 Shootout win. Holmstrom scored Sioux Falls first goal to cut their deficit to 2-1 and then had the primary assist in the third period as the Falls tied the game.

Will Rayner's Lincoln Stars lost 7-1 to Team USA, Rayner was a -1.

In the EJHL, Valley won 5-1 but Derek McCoy didn't play.

In the CJHL Brockville won 7-2 on the road, but Shayne Thompson had no points.

Nick Curry didn't play in Springfields win in the NAHL.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Nice article on www.ushl.com on Waterloo and Derek Arnold. After it was posted, he had 2 games. Scored 2 and had 4 assists, 6 pts total and a + 3.

High Five for Black Hawks…Three victories during the week extended the winning streak of the Waterloo Black Hawks to five games, their longest of the season. During that stretch, the team has converted 8-of-21 (38%) on the power play while killing off 21-of-22 (95%) shorthanded situations. The Black Hawks overcame a 3-0 deficit on Tuesday to capture a 4-3 victory vs. Sioux City when Zach Palmquist scored just 39 seconds into the extra session. Waterloo then used a four-goal third period to capture a 5-1 win over Des Moines on Friday. Derek Arnold netted a goal in all three victories during the week and has scored 11 goals during his current nine-game point streak. He has scored all 14 of his goals this season over his last 16 games. C.J. Motte has been in goal for every minute of Waterloo’s five-game win streak posting a 1.78 GAA and has been in net for each of the last 10 victories by the team

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Terrence Wallin (15-25-40) had a goal in yesterday's 2-1 win. I believe that was the final regular season game for Gunnery (25-4-2).
