UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

- Marc Boulanger's season is over as the Olds Grizzlys were eliminated from the AJHL playoffs by Canmore.

- Julian Melchiori had two assists in Newmarket's 2-1 victory over Hamilton. Newmarket advances to the next round of the CCHL playoffs with the win.

- Tyler Brickler had an assist in Westside's 4-0 win in their BCHL playoff opener.

- The EJHL playoffs start on Saturday. The Junior Bruins will take on Bay State and the Jr. Monarchs will take on NY Apple Core.

- Terrence Wallin and Gunnery begin the playoffs on Wednesday against Avon Old Farms.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

- Derek Arnold scored another 2 goals last night in a 3-2 win.

- Scott Wilson and Georgetown with begin their next playoff series tomorrow night against Oakville. Wilson currently has 11 points (5-6-11) in 6 playoff games.

- Julian Melchiori and Newmarket begin their next playoff round on Saturday against Burlington.

- Terrence Wallin (15-26-41) had an assist in a 7-3 playoff loss to Avon Old Farms. I believe that ends the season for Wallin and Gunnery.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Just saw that a Maine commit for 2011 had been looking at Lowell as well. Of course, all it says is that he spoke to the UML coaches, so no idea if a scholarship or any type of offer was made.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Saw Lincoln in the USHL last night. Rayner is not close to being ready for Hockey East. Was out of place all night, stepping up when he shouldnt, giving up odd man rushes and took very poor unsportsmanlike penalty at end. Tried to fight a kid about half his size at end of game. Through his gloves and helmet down and walked around taunting him. If that is getting ready for Lowell, God save Lowell. Will get suspended for it and his focus should be on getting games and developing.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Derek Arnold continues his torrid pace....

The United States Hockey League today announced the weekly award winners for the 23rd week of the 2009-10 USHL regular season.

Congratulations to forward Derek Arnold of the Waterloo Black Hawks, named Reebok Offensive Player of the Week; defenseman Conor Allen of the Sioux Falls Stampede, selected as CCM Defensive Player of the Week; and Connor Wilson of the Chicago Steel who earned honors as the USHL Goaltender of the Week.

Arnold scored six points (2g, 4a) and registered a plus-two rating while extending his point streak to 14 games, which is the second longest streak in the USHL this season. The 20-year-old netted two goals, including the game-winner, in the 3-2 win over Sioux City on Wednesday. He then assisted on both goals in the 4-2 loss to Fargo on Friday and added two more assists in the 6-3 loss to Fargo on Saturday. The second-year USHL forward from Foxboro, Massachusetts has multiple points in each of his last five games and ranks fourth on the Black Hawks with 51 points (19g, 32a) through 50 games.

In Game 3 of the CCHL semis, Newmarket took a 3-0 lead in the series, with a 3-1 win on the road. Julian Melchiori was a +1.

Waterloo's Derek Arnold just barely saw his scoring streak kept alive with an assist on an empty netter in Waterloo's road win at Lincoln last night 8-6. He was a +1 on the game. On the other side, Will Rayner had an assist for Lincoln but was a -4.

OJHL
Scott Wilson had two goals for Georgetown but it wasn't enough as they lost 5-4 in OT to Oakville. They now trail 2-1 in the series.

CJHL
Brockville's Shayne Thompson had 2 assists as they won the first game of their quarterfinal series 7-3.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Rayner was on the ice for 7 goals. Waterloo was up 6-2 heading into the third and they gave up 6 straight, to lose 8-6. He was on for all 6 in the 3rd. Would have been worse then minus four but a couple were shorthanded.

I am sure Blaise will love that game sheet when he sees it...

BTW thanks for doing all of this, Monty. It's great to be able to keep current with what the future 'Hawks are doing.

Is it me or does Arnold sound like he could be a very, very special player?
