Please note, Scott Wilson is committed for either 2011 or 2012. I'm listing him below as 2011. Also note, Doug Carr and Nick Curry are both injured and not playing for their respective teams currently.

Players in bold were named (if not played in for various reasons) league All-Stars.

*Pendanza's 10 PPG are second best in the EJHL. His current point total puts him in a tie for 15th.
*Thompson's 78 points have currently 9th in CJHL scoring, even though he missed a few games due to a knee injury.
*Melchiori missed four games playing for Team Canada East in the World Junior A Challenge and missed a few more due to injuries.
*C. Eiserman is currently 10th in the EJHL in GAA and 14th in save %.
*TJ Massie is fifth in the EJHL in GAA and has moved up to a tie for fourth in save %.
*Brickler was traded to the Westside Warriors on November 18th. While with Sioux City, his numbers were 0-3-3 in just 5 games played.
*Wallin's Gunnery team is 14-3-1, but I'm not sure how many games Wallin has played as he might have been out due to injury for a couple of games.
*Boulanger is 7th in the AJHL in GAA.
*Rayner was placed on the 45 day IR in mid-October and missed almost two full months.
*Curry is tied for 13th in the NAHL in scoring, but missed a few games due to a concussion.
*Carr is third in the CJHL in GAA with a 2.46, and is second in save percentage. Also, I've noted his 1 OT loss and his 2 Shootout losses as ties. He missed a few weeks and is expected back tonight.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Marc Boulanger (Olds Grizzlys) stopped all 33 shots last night for his 2nd shutout in a row in a 2-0 win over Canmore. This was the 3rd win for Olds and Boulanger in the last 4 days. Over that stretch Boulanger has allowed 2 goals and stopped 91 of 93 shots.
Boulanger's hot streak continued last night, making 26 saves in a 5-2 win for Olds.

Newmarket is on to the second round of the playoffs in the CCHL with a 2-0 win last night. They won the series 4-1. Julian Melchiori was a +1 for the game. Melchiori was a +1 in the series, with a single assist to his credit. Newmarket only scored 9 goals in the 5 games, but with the two HE committed defensemen, only allowed 7 in the series.

In the EJHL, the Jr. Bruins won 7-6 over the Huskies last night. Joe Pendanza didn't play, and TJ Massie made 45 saves (on 51 shots) for the win.

Doug Carr was held back from playing in the Colts 6-1 win last night. He apparently felt some discomfort prior to the game and they decided not to risk it.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Recruit info from this weekend (so far):

Marc Boulanger was given the night off for the Old Grizzlys, who still won.

Tyler Brickler had a goal in his team's loss on Friday night, and added an assist on Saturday night which was also a loss for Westside.

Derek Arnold had a 1-1-2 on Friday night in a 5-1 win over Des Moines. He was named the second star. He was named the third star Saturday night, with the game winning goal in Waterloo's 3-1 win. He was a +2 and his point streak is up to 9 games.

Colton Saucerman had no points in the 5-1 loss against Waterloo mentioned above. He also had no points in a 4-1 win Saturday night.

Will Rayner had no points in Lincoln's 3-1 W on Friday night, but had an assist and was a +2 on Saturday night in Lincoln's 3-2 OTL.

Sioux Falls won Saturday night 1-0 after suffering a 1-0 loss Friday night. Holmstrom and Ruhwedel were a -1 on Friday night and were even and pointless on Saturday night.

In the EJHL, Bill Eiserman had no points in the Jr. Monarch 6-5 win on Friday night over Valley. He did have an assist in the Jr. Monarchs 7-0 win Saturday night. Chris Eiserman didn't play either night. Derek McCoy had no points in the game for Valley on Friday night.

Scott Wilson had a goal in Georgetown's 4-2 win Friday night, and was named the second star after a 2-2-4 performance on Saturday night in a 8-4 win.

Shayne Thompson was named the second star with two assists on Friday night in Brockville's 5-2 win.

Doug Carr is still not playing for Cornwall.

Terrence Wallin had four points (1-3-4) in a 11-2 win yesterday. Wallin now has 38 points (14-24-38).

I'd be curious if he doesn't move on to a higher league next season?

That puts him 5th on the team in scoring out of the forwards, 1 point ahead of 6th. Not being negative but Prep hockey is brutal this year witha huge drop in top end talent.

37 points does not registr as top 50 in prep scoring, with the leaders now over 75 points.

Not being negative as I have heard good things about him on all fronts. Issue is that prep hockeyt does not prepare the kids anymore, outside the Whitneys and Kreiders of the world.

Winning games 11-2, 8-2, 10-2, 10-3 etc dont prepare you for BC's of the world

According to USHR Gunnery is now 22-4-2. Terrence is currently fifth on the team in scoring. The top scorer has 45 points and three others have 42 points.

And we believe that Wallin has missed a couple of games as well.

Last night, Shayne Thompson had no points in Brockville's 4-1 win.

Derek McCoy didn't play in Valley's 6-2 win.

The AJHL playoffs start later this week. The Olds Grizzlys made the playoffs easily thanks to a turn around from a horrid start. The turnaround started partially when Boulanger came back from his injury at the start of the season. The Grizzlys ended the season 30-23-2-5 (W-L-T-OTL), Boulanger had a 21-10-6 record.

The BCHL season also ended this past weekend. The Westside Warriors (with Tyler Brickler) will be playing Trail in the first round.

The OJHL season ended this weekend as well, and Scott Wilson's Georgetown team will play Aurora I believe starting this weekend.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Doug Carr's season is very likely done! My source says he'll have to have surgery b4 he plays anymore hockey. This leaves his team,Cornwall Colts, with only one goalie. he was told back in Dec when the injury occurred that it might heal enough to play this season but would need surgery after this season.

That's disappointing to hear. Thanks for the info.

The Colts indicated he was ready to play last week but were just giving him another week of rest. Did he go back to the doctor?

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Based on this article he was practicing last week with the team. I wonder if he re-injured the groin in practice.

I don't think its so much that he reinjured it as much as it was that it didn't heal well coming off the initial injury and when he tried to go he just couldn't move well enough to play games at a high enough level.
This is a big loss for Cornwall. Landa,Carr's backup, has not shown the type of netminding that will be needed to beat Brockville or Pembroke.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

The final CJHL Top 20 has 3 teams with UML commits.

The CJHL Final Weekly Top 20 as of Monday, February 22, 2010

(8) Brockville Braves (CJHL)
(12) Georgetown Raiders (OJAHL)
(14) Westside Warriors (BCHL)

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

A new college hockey website has their Top 50 recruits for 2010 out. UML's Julian Melchiori is ranked 43.
That same website has an article on Matt Esposito who is now playing for Chicago (USHL) after playing 30 games for Green Mountain earlier in the year.
According to the article, Esposito has heard from Northeastern, Clarkson and recently received an offer from Union. He's hoping to hear from a few more schools, including UVM which would be his first choice. He wants to play in Hockey East.

Any official announcement re Carr's status? Hasn't Chretien played more than Landa during Carr's absence?

Must have been a bad groin pull to require surgery - hope it goes well and Carr is in top form for UML next year.

Your right Chretien has played more games in Carr's absense, and better I might add, but it boils down to the card Chretien is signed to. I believe he is considered an AP player who can only play a max # of games, I think 10, and after that his first obligation is to his JrB team. I think he will be back after his JrB team is eliminated. Im not sure on all the details, will check and report back in a few.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Terrence Wallin (14-25-39) had an assist in Gunnery's 6-0 win today. He was held scoreless in Monday's game, also a win. According to USHR, Gunnery is now 24-4-2 and will play their final regular season game on Saturday.
