UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Don't really want to think about recruits right now, but a couple of quick things ... Derek Arnold's point streak was finally ended on Saturday night. And the EJHL Monarchs won the league championship for the 5th straight time. With G Brian Billett heading to BC next year, it'll be interesting to see if UML recruit Chris Eiserman takes the #1 spot for the best team in the EJHL next year. Finally, even though Georgetown is out of the playoffs in the OJHL, Scott Wilson is currently listed as the second highest scorer in the playoffs in the OJHL.

Unless something changes at BC I not sure what they will do with Billett. Muse will be a Senior and Milner who's currently a Freshman has been impressive.

They also have the goalie ranked #4 in GAA coming in next year in Brad Barone. Billett was ranked #1 in the regular season. Lowell recruits TJ Massie and Chris Eiserman finished 5th and 10th respectively.

billett's about to turn 18, barone is 19, and just about every other goalie in the top 10 besides new jersey's matt morris is even close to being that old. eiserman is also a 16-year-old sophomore in high school.

- Tyler Brickler's season is over as Westside (BCHL) was eliminated from the playoffs last night. Tyler had no points in the 4-3 OT loss.

- Doug Carr stopped 26 of 29 shots for Cornwall in a 4-2 loss to Nepean. Their playoff series is now tied at two.

- Newmarket defeated Burlington 6-1 on Thurs. to advance to the CCHL Championship round. Julian Melchiori had a goal in the game. Newmarket will play the winner of the Wellington/Bowmanville series.

I saw this over in the Northeastern thread. http://journalstar.com/sports/article_819ebe22-316f-11df-abe2-001cc4c03286.html

It looks like Will Rayner will be back in the lineup for Lincoln tonight.
Defenseman Will Rayner was serving the second of a two-game team suspension from an "incident" two weeks earlier. McGroarty refused to answer further questions about Rayner other than to say he would return Wednesday night against Des Moines.

Re: UML Recruiting 2010 and beyond

Here's a pick up I've heard for next season. Son of former Lowell player Rob Badger (1984-86).

Rob Badger, D, 5-11, 170, Hainesport, NJ (Gunnery)

If true (and I'm not doubting you) that makes 13 freshmen next season.

According to USHR, Badger had (1-5-6) 6 points for Gunnery this season. I'm not sure how many games he played.

He seems like he'd be coming after finishing his high school senior season... interesting.

Any more news on this? I've been trying to find information and no one's responding.

ok... I'm ignorant on recruiting and obvious i have no "news"... but if i'm following what's been said... he's a dman with a low number of points on a team that basically crushed through its prep league defeating all-comers... on top of that... presuming the "out of high school" comment that he's 18, maybe 19 years old.

echoing 860 (if I understand him right)... is there any other expectations that he'd be at most a warm body in the practices? Sounds more like a kid just going to school than anything else. Frankly though, if a kid is coming to Lowell anyhow, unless there's other requirements on the school, i have nothing against warm bodies at practice.

Newmarket won their 10th straight game in the playoffs last night, defeating Bowmanville in Game 1 of the CCHL finals 4-3 in OT. UML incoming recruit Julian Melchiori had a 1-1-2 (-1) in the game.

You understand me right, these are my thoughts exactly.

Have seen him play the last several years he is a very good skater who played a role at Gunnery. Wasn't counted on to score points and don't think he saw much if any time on the PP. I don't know if he is coming in next fall but if he is its a stretch for him to play at this level next fall. Maybe a year or two of juniors and he could step in but not right from Gunnery.

Thanks for the info. You nailed why I was surprised to see that he might be coming in right away.
