UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

Re: UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

I know ... just don't like those kinds of comments being thrown at people.

ignore= the best feature if folks just stop quoting the imbeciles. No idea what he wrote but I have yet to see anything intelligent and I expect that won't change and I won't be missing anything. If you would put him on ignore you wouldn't be bothered by his drivel.

Re: UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

I agree that's dumb. I would definitely be ticked if I were a UML fan. I'm fairly certain every other arena in Hockey East (except PC cuz they don't have a student section) has its main student section in the end the home team shoots twice- if not behind the net, then on the side in that end.

UMass does not.

Re: UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

the problem with the sections is purely logistical. there's no way to put a club with its own entry point at ground level on that side of the rink. anyone that has been throughout the downstairs there knows that's where the lowell dressing room/gym/offices are when you enter the building, and the lowell devils' locker room is where the restaurant would have to go. they don't want VIPs having to walk through the riff-raff too much, and i get that.

that's also why they can't stick the student section in its current end, as others have said. does it make a lot of sense from an atmosphere perspective? no. but the school is publicly funded and just bought and made upgrades to an entire arena. their primary concern is and should be money, at least until they get into the black.

Another possible solution is to re-arrange the benches so that the visiting team is on the Section A side of the ice. Leave UML where it is and put the scorer's box and penalty boxes next to the UML bench. They could then set the visiting team goalie at the student section. I don't think it would cost a lot to do this. Also, you would then get camera access from press box A directly into the penalty box and put the visiting team offender right on the video scoreboard.

That wouldn't work. UML's bench is on one side of the red line. That's why they attack the opposite end twice - it's a shorter line change from the defensive zone. Moving the visitor's bench to the other side of the ice doesn't change that.

That's easy, have them enter through the penalty box. :)

edit: i realize this is impractical. Seemed like a quick solution though.

Re: UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

Problem fixed.

Sections I,J, and K are now student sections with E,F, and G as the premium seats. Section H separates the two.

It's good to know that you don't have to try hard to be a jerk.

i don't have to try very hard when umass-lowell fans think blow-up dolls and a bunch of geeks in a student section can rattle a hockey east goalie.

i don't mean to pat myself on the back, but you have to admit it was pretty funny. umass lowell hockey = blow-up dolls and cowbells!

Re: UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

That's great news.

The best thing is that sections T-Q won't be empty anymore (Thanks Talon Club  ). I hated that when we had 4,000-5,000 people in the building and that end of rink was empty.

How is the Pavilion Club already sold out? It's great for the School but why didn't the general public get a chance to buy those seats? They are only $650 each.

Probably because they don't want the general public in those seats... they probably targeted businesses and other people who want connections.

Though, I agree. I were up in the Boston area at my current salary I'd give it some consideration.

The $650 pavilion club seats probably aren't even sold out. I think Marty is just hanging onto them for whenever his pals want to buy them.
