UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

Re: UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

According to the AHL transactions list, Carter was released from his ATO.

Re: UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

So is he going to be fulltime with Phantoms.

no he's off their roster because the flyers signed sebastian caron today and sent down duschene to make room. hutton was the only goalie they had that wasn't actually under contract so he's the one they released.

also nick schaus is indeed playing for worcester tonight

That sucks, here's hoping he gets a shot elsewhere.

BTW, I know some of you aren't fans of Chaz, but he had some interesting stats posted on the Sun Blog.
During their four years at UML, the seniors compiled a 63-70-17 record. In 70 of those 150 games -- 47% -- the River Hawks scored two goals or less and won just eight of them while tying 10.
Even more painful, in 21 of those 70 defeats -- a staggering 30% -- the River Hawks surrendered two goals or less. They lost 16 games by a 2-1 score, 2 by 2-0 scores, and 3 games 1-0.

Dont know what could come out of Hammys ato, i know the Bruins have Kevin Regan as their proposed future backup, but im still going to be optimistic about his tryout, also, the P-Bruins did awesome lastnight with the newly signed draft picks, Sauve, and Colborne both w/ 2pts.... might check them out when they come to the tsongas next weekend

I hope Hutton catches on with an AHL team next year... would hate to see him hit the ECHL level. Need to get him back in the NHL some day.

I don't know what the final numbers look like this year... but it seems to me the stat of the year is "scoring first". I know I broke some of it down mid-year... but yeesh.

Re: UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

when scoring first (18 games): 12-6-0
when not (21): 7-10-4

it isn't as bad as you'd think

in-league though it's pretty bad:
first (12): 8- 4- 0
not (15): 4- 7- 4

but that doesn't include the three games at maine, in which lowell went 0-1 when scoring first and 1-1 when not.

I hadn't realized it had evened out (sorta) to 18-21... in general the records are indicative of a good team (maybe not quite an NCAA team though)... the number of times they score first vs. not is indicative of a mediocre team... but again, its something to note.

Lowell scored 114 for and 92 against in all games. 98 for and 71 against after the first goal. I really don't want to spend my Saturday doing the advanced statistical hairsplitting... I do enough of that during the week.

I don't know... to me it reads like a team that had a hard time motivating themselves and then settled into a game as it wore on. But that's my feeling on the matter... I won't call it "thought".

I found that video infuriating.

In a year when Hockey East was painfully mediocre, with the experienced team Lowell had, ANY view of this season as anything other than "Colossal Disappointment" or "Total Failure" is sugarcoating at its worst.

i am quoting a post i agree with

In a year when Hockey East was painfully mediocre,

Hockey East had 2 teams play in regional finals and one is in the Frozen Four. That team is ranked third in the country, right? Mediocre?

Yes. So the league is playing above average in the tournament... so what? all 5 games making up for the other hundred games?

Sounds like a lot of "aw shucks" going on... if you screw up that often then its the system (hockey and/or psychological) and not luck.

The league wasn't mediocre, but some of the teams were as always. BC and UNH are always at the top for the most part along with BU who had a down year. Lowell, UMass, VT will always be middle of the pack teams and Maine will be the "X" factor. In the end, Boston College made the Frozen Four, UNH made a regional final, and BU/Maine were playing their best hockey at the end of the season but fell short.

Seems to me that Hockey East was the same as it always is, except BU and Maine fell just short.
