UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

Re: UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

Better call than some of my weather forecasts...yuck yuck..:D
Good call. A very impressive win by BC last night, putting up seven goals on Miami was unbelievable. It should be a great final against Wisconsin on Saturday.
Just goes to show what a great job the Hawks did against BC this season. They not only won the season series (2-1) but they only allowed 4 goals in 3 games.

Yeah, not to detract anything from the 'Hawks performance but that BC team was not the same BC team we played. They were freakin' animals, not the ice skating princesses we're accustomed to.

Re: UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

I talked to Hamilton last night...he said he was heading back to provy for the weekend and probably getting the start in the final P-bruins game of the season.

Re: UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

If anyone is interested...Hamilton most likely will start in Lowell sunday 4pm in the last regular season game for the P-Bruins. Hes backed up for 3 games but they are not in playoff contention so he might get the nod sunday in Lowell. Tomorrow they play in Worcester. He also said that 2 recruits will be coming in for the goalie spot. Heffron is just a practice buddy and TJ Massie probably will not see any time. He said also that we will play Princeton in 2 for occ play next season. Ill check in with him tomorrow.

Re: UML offseason looking towards 2010/11 season

Hamilton ended up getting the start tonight vs Worcester sharks in a 3-0 loss. Had 32 saves on 35 shots. Schaus was pretty quiet all game not on ice for those 3 goals. Hamilton said he wont be suiting up for Lowell. Looks like me and him were both wrong on what day he would start this weekend.

Did anyone make it to the reverse raffle last night? How was it? Hopefully it was a success.

Question for UML fans, why on earth would they schedule such a thing for the night of our sport's national championship, unless the game was on and it was a viewing party, as well? Just seems odd.

I know a lot of the loyal MC fans go to the Frozen Four each year so it would not be as well attended as it would be a week after.

Responding to a couple topics recently:

Re: AHL-Devils.

The Devils downfall has been their terrible relationships with the SUN and WCAP. Both were shaken down for cash sponsorship deals. CAP won't mention the team on air. period. The Sun prints small clip stories, no photos and decimated their public goodwill in endless editorials. Neither outlet has a huge following, but both have a local following. I don't see the arena doing well without the ahl traffic, and Marty Meehan is easily capable of doing whatever relationship repair is neccessary. i suspect he would prefer a clean slate with a new team though.

Frozen Four was ok...three blowout were not ideal, but the final game was actually pretty evenly matched until the 2nd bc goal, then wisc. folded.

RIT was impressive to get to frozen four in only their fifth season in div. 1. Hmmm....

There were about six Lowell fans there that we saw.

Completely disagree about "needing the AHL traffic". What traffic? The Devils had the worst attendance in the league. Dead last. They were the only team who couldn't manage to bring in 100K fans in during the course of the season.

Getting rid of the Devils is the best thing that could have happened to the Tsongas Center. They paid virtually nothing in rent. They got a ridiculous amount of the advertising and concession money..

BUT, having said that, if the Devil's are cool with a 400% rent increase, not receiving any of the on ice, board or front display advertising and only 50% of the concessions sold during their games, I say sure, let them stay. Otherwise, don't let the door hit you on the way out. The Tsongas Center can make a lot more money leaving those dates open for shows and concerts. Not to mention no more awful ice because of day/night double headers. I can't see a single negative thing regarding the Devils leaving.

I will say this... as soon as the devils are gone the pressure will be (and should be) on Peter Casey to fill that space. Nothing has been said that deals with the issue of acts and shows being drawn elsewhere (manchester, agganis, etc.)
