They played well for the first two periods, and just seemingly had no legs in the third.

For our sake, I hope we don't go back to this game if we miss out on a seeding. How big is next Friday's game now against NU and that's definitely not the way to start out the second half of the league schedule. That was one of the worst meltdowns I've seen in a long time and our second consecutive league loss.

It sounded like a lot of standing around in the 3rd period as Vermont took it to them. Giving up multiple goals in a short time span is becoming a habit. A nice win by Vermont and a bad loss for the Hawks.

Cop out. They dominated for 40 minutes and then got run out of the building. That's not being rusty, that's losing focus and not playing hard enough. That's thinking you have two points in the bag, shutting it down and not being able to get it back in time.
They're going to get throttled by NU if they play like that for even two minutes next week. Hope Bazin bag skates them all week.

Agree with this, that was a complete mail-in in the third period and I'm wondering if Bazin hauls them out onto the ice when they return to Lowell. Since that debacle at Northeastern, with the 6x4 with four minutes to go, this hasn't looked like the same team.

I will agree with you about the NU game, they play like that... throttled.
Dominated 2 periods? disagree completely. Lowell, did not have the same flow I have seen in the past games before the break. Carr was left out in the rain more then once in the first two periods. The defense was no where to be found, and it was worse in the third. As soon as UVM pressured them in the third, they were lost. I have seen pressure from both BC and BU in the Lowell wins, and this team figured out ways around the heat. Dominated the first 2 periods? Thats a joke. Stupid penalties by Lowell, and thats shows domination - because we beat a 5-3? Without Carr, this game should have been a 5-2 win by UVM. My eyes showed rust, period - not fatigue - my eyes showed no discipline.. If Lowell was so dominant, I guess Madore was standing on his head?

This is spot on. If not for a couple of spectacular saves from Madore it should have been 4 or 5 to nothing at the end of 2. In the 3rd, they just looked lost. Vermont took it to them, and they couldn't do anything about it.

That third was just a frustrating lack of discipline... Geez boys, collect yourself and make smart plays... Things don't change. UVM may have put in a harder effort but that doesn't excuse some of the plays made.

In that third period, Vermont looked like the nationally ranked team last night. The decision-making in that third period was abysmal; no upperclassmen showed any leadership and the underclassmen (who have been playing like upperclassmen) simply panicked. Madore was the clearly the better goaltender last night (and Vermont's best player on the ice for the first two periods) which is the the first time I could say that about an opposing goalie in a game with Carr. Personally, I though Vermont's second goal was maybe the softest goal Carr's let in this year. Certainly, Carr had no chance on the GW goal but the defensive breakdowns on all three Vermont goals simply can't happen. Not having the services of Ferriera was a big deal.
The play that I thought had a major impact of the game and got me concerned was Val's failed breakaway; I thought it was a bit too fancy and not the best of decisions to go with the highlight reel, five-hole special right after Vermont gave up a goal. It gave Madore and Vermont some confidence after the intense pressure. Lowell got frustrated, took a host of penalites and we all know what happened in the third. Starting on Friday they have a stretch of three games in five days, (NU, @NU, and @PC). Hopefully, they can take advantage of some home cooking on Friday, regain that same edge they had against the Big Four in the first semester. If they want to remain in the running for home ice contention, they can't afford to lose any of these three games, especially the home game on Friday.
As I mentioned, the last two Hockey East games against the current 9th and 10th place teams have been lackluster. Last night, they gave Vermont five power plays, something that a team that prides itself for staying out of the box has been doing more of lately. While Vermont did not score on those chances, you can't afford to give that many penalties against the likes of BC, BU, and Merrimack. This stretch of average performances by the River Hawks is not dissimilar in my mind from what Merrimack did in December with a lack of focus and tons of penalties. Merrimack may have righten the ship a little bit (depending if they can finish the sweep of Maine tonight) and I hope that the River Hawks all take a long look in the mirror and not rest on the laurels of the first semester.

So young kid. Not sure how many years of eligibility he has. I know when we had the 3 Frenchmen, they only had like 2 or 3 years, right?

I believe he's only 17, so I'd imagine he has his full eligibility (except for the missed first semester).

UVM has two HE wins now, UMass and UML, both at home. While Lowell is in 6th now, they are 1 point behind PC, but has 3 games in hand and 2 points behind Maine for fourth ... with 4 games in hand.

IIRC, eligibility is a matter of age and when you start college... I'd wager that meunier and amar were both taking college classes prior to enrollment. 4 in 5 starts at any enrollment.
