UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Truer words were rarely spoken :(

True, but this team is also 1 win from beating Maine in Maine in the playoffs(first time in school history) and making it back to the Garden with back to back 20 win seasons.

That just shows how big this game is. A win and Lowell has gotten the Maine monkey off their back, 20 wins and the Garden. A loss and..well, I covered that.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

I don't think you can dis our guys for not beating the back up goalie- from all accounts he was more than solid.

but they certainly went out of their way to not make it difficult on him.

also you didn't see the game so you're not really in a position to say how we should feel about anything that transpired in it. just a brutal effort.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

Disappointing result overall last night. But even with that, there are some positives to take out of it. 2 5-on-3s killed, both for over a minute. 1 for 9 on the power play for Maine (I believe). In regards to the question asked earlier, I don't have many issues with the penalties called either. I do with the extremely fast whistle though that cost Lowell a goal.

But as it has all season, comes down to putting the puck in the net. And let's not give up the first goal tonight please.

TIL doing a liveblog tonight?

Wilson has played well and made some big save the past two night, It's just that I would like to see more shots by the Hawks on him. They need to crash the net more, that's how Maine sored their goals last night.

You can feel however you want. Sounds like they were uninspired (to be polite). I was just saying the goalie didn't sound like a push over.

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

ugh... I wish they'd be able to put a run together seeing as the championships are now in Springfield. I don't recall how far they got when they were #2 (when i was in school) but if the elite eight were in driving distance I'd get out there despite not really being a basketball fan.

They were in Springfield when Lowell won the title in '88 - for a lot of years there, Springfield was the ONLY site of the DII tourney. I can't remember if the tourney was in Springfield when Lowell returned to the Elite 8 earlier this decade....

Re: UML '09/'10 Season Thread Part II

this team is one loss away from being the biggest Lowell disappointment since a trio of Frenchmen went to the Olympics.

I disagree. To me, this season is THE biggest disappointment since Lowell joined D-I. At least with the French trio leaving for the Olympics, we knew what was coming and adjusted our pre-season expectations accordingly.....

No disagreement whatsoever. None.

by the way, to everyone reveling in the lowell loss, we at the ice is life are very glad that our act has made you hate lowell more than you like your own team.

makes it all worth it.

I just don't understand how we can ice virtually the same team and have them look like utter crap. After last year's ending I figured that would have pushed them the extra mile into every bit of off-season training and told them to hone themselves for this campaign.

You hear the talk from the players during the interviews with Bob. I don't want to hear talk. Talk is worthless. Let the play on the ice do the speaking. Let the play on the ice tell me how well you know your game and how well you can play it. State of mind is bull**** if you aren't going to apply it... its not an end... its a means... but all we really want is that end. If this team knew it could win it did a **** poor job of showing it.

I think we all expected better from a team that knew how to do their jobs... because frankly, this entire season has been a testament to embarrassment. How can a team that can do so much show up for this season and do so very little?
