Dreadful stuff per usual. Bob Ellis alluded it late in the third, four shots on goal in that final period when down by one is completely unacceptable.
At this point, you just have to laugh.
Stats can tell you what you need to know ... Lowell scored 2 goals in 3 games against UConn this year. Maine put up 4 in a 20 minute span alone today (and 7 in the game) to beat the same team. UConn has given up over 4 goals per game in league play when not playing Lowell, but only 0.67 per game against Lowell.
Great to get a win today, and it was so very needed. When Lowell scored 2 in the first 10 minutes (and 2 in less than 2 minutes), I thought ... OK, maybe, we're going to see the breakout game. Instead, back to the norm. And yet another period where we were so heavily dominated it's pathetic (shots were 15-3 in the second for UVM). Good to see Owens and Peterson get their first goals though, and Welsch was great again and really deserved the W.
Yikes, these are just horrible stats 16 games into the season.Only the 2nd time all season they scored 2 goals before the end of the 2nd period. (The other was the loss at BC)
Only the 2nd time all season they had a lead at the end of the 1st period. (The other was the OT loss to UConn)
Couple of NC games this weekend, against Holy Cross (home Friday, away Saturday). The Crusaders come in at 8-7-2 into the weekend and are 4-1 in their games against teams we've played (beat Bentley twice, beat UConn twice, lost to Army). Lowell went 1-4 versus those teams.
