Maine has such a great supporting cast now. Chabrier is definitely one of my favorite players...a great offensive d-man. Renwick made his presence felt last night as well which was good to see. Holt and Scott have been solid too.
On the subject of Alfond....love the improvements. The new video boards add to the fan experience IMO....and obviously provide the athletic program with a ton of ad revenue. The new sound system is very clear and PA announcer is great and into the game without being unprofessional. He does a really good job. Thankfully the weaknesses.....restrooms, concessions, and amount of public space will all be addressed with next round of renovations. Agreed that the amount of people milling about during gameplay in the walkways is bit out of control.
If Ostman is nursing a nagging injury, who is in net the next games? Let him sit? and go with Boiya(sp?)

I think you have to for at least Wednesday. Boija looked fine Friday and I would rather let him get the experience during these out of conference games than throw him back into a ranked rivalry game...
All I know is we can't throw the same Ostman we saw last night out there once we get back into conference play.
Maine ranked #8, around what I was expecting.
I did't think he played a bad game...one of those goals he made 3 saves...can't ask for much more on that one...and another he went to cover up the puck and his own player pulled it away and then lost it which ended up in a score...glad Boija is in the wings and gets a few starts, but we are fooling ourselves that in the long run Ostman will not be the work-horse for this team moving forward...just imo/fwiw.
I'm right there with you that Ostman needs to be our workhorse. Last game I was more worried about the opportunities that didn't end up as goals. He was sliding all over and his rebound control looked worse than usual. It makes sense if he has an injury and couldn't push off or stop as well.
There is a long gap between the Bentley game and RIT. Play Boija at least once and hopefully Victor is back in form for the stretch run.
RIT and Union are both averaging 3.6 goals per game (both tied for 11th in the nation), while Bentley just 2.4 (all the way down at 50th).
If Ostman came out of the UConn game without any issues he probably should get the start Wednesday.
I don't think Barr will let this team will take Bentley lightly after getting their azz handed to them in Waltham last season but that's the spot I think you can trust Boija and use that game for him to earn more starts down the stretch.
One other thing, must have been some chirping going on, as late in game when #23 was in sin bin a couple Maine players skated over there to make sure he knew UConn was losing .
I could be wrong but wasn't he the player who was waving to one of the Maine players when they got sent to the box after a play
Actually Barr did inherit Josh Nadeau as he was a Red recruit. He committed 4 months before Gendron passed. With how well they play together, I feel it is likely that Bradly would have followed his brother here regardless.
Having said that, this team is light years away from what it would be if Red was still behind the helm. Barr seems to get the most out of the players he has brought in which seems go back to recruiting the right people who want to be here and who can be pushed to improve. To have a team full of player who buy into the team, expect to win, are part of a winning culture, and who can be motivated I feel is the biggest difference between Gendron and Barr. I highly doubt the Nadeaus would be putting up these numbers if Gendron’s culture was still ingrained.
All that’s left now is to get the damn band back up in the balcony so we can have the students more in sync again. I’d be willing to carry whoever can’t make it up the balcony stairs up there myself…
Barr did have to sell the Red Recruits he wanted to keep on his program. And Barr took criticism for losing Guillaume Richard when he took over. If you're going to be critical of losing Richard you've got to give a little praise for keeping Red's guys that worked out! Barr goes into this process on the episode of "Spittin Chiclets" he appeared on last spring.

Agree with this. At the end of the day if the prior regime doesn’t recruit them no way they are here but Barr certainly deserves some sort of credit for holding on to them.
At this point Barr really needs to make the most of them and get some good players committed. I don’t think any of Maine’s current recruits are anywhere close to as good as Breen or the Nadeaus.
National attention is the best recruiting tool. I am sure there are teenagers out there now who have added Maine as an option.
