Was just in Tampa area, weather was perfect, far too many people
The rankings roundup on USCHO says today that last night was "Maine’s second-ever win over a top-ranked team at Alfond Arena." They don't bother to mention the first. Anybody know/remember the game in question?
....all this chit making me think like I wonder what tix Tampa to Boston in March might look like, and accommodations....who knows, eh?

You wanna talk perfect…driving South on the 5 right now in the Central Valley…dry sunshine and 68. Looks like I will catch the game on my phone again somewhere between LA and SD…Go Blue!

I'll go with the Golden Goofers when they came into Alfond at #1 in the late 90's . Cant give you a date though, but they got shmucked, maybe even swept
Yeah you’re right. Think we lost to Duluth then beat the gophs the following night? I remember Brett Hull silencing the crowd with a monster slap shot from way out. ImpressiveActually I believe it was the 87/88 season when Maine hosted Minn-Duluth and then the Gophers on back to back nights. Duluth featured Brett Hull and Minnesota had Rob Staubber in net. Gopher cheerleaders made the trip too and kept chanting "Leave Robbie alone" as we chanted "Sieve, Sieve". Maine won that game and I do believe the Gophers were number 1. But it seems crazy to me that this was the only time until last night. We play lots of great teams in the 90's and I imagine the likes of BU, BC, PC, UNH or even Lake St. may have been #1 at one point, we certainly were.
Just great to see the atmosphere and excitement back in the Alfond!
I really like that that the refs are calling fewer penalties this year.
