UMaine Hockey 23 - 24: The Barr Crawl to Glory!!!

Wish I was in Alfond when Maine scored the empty net, place must have been loud like the good ol' days. Maine did what it had to do to beat a very skilled team like BC and thats limit BC chances. Very impressed with Maines ability to keep BC off their game. Maine had sticks in the way all game long. I'm not to used to seeing the puck go Maines way on 50 50 pucks. Ostman was huge especially on the that early save when BC should have scored, that was a Swayman like save.

I hope Barr can get them to go like that again tonight, I thought their might be to much celebrating after the game. Not that I blame them after beating the #1 team in the nation but they need to refocus for another tough game tonight. Conditioning will be big tonight, lot of energy expended by both sides. I believe Maine rolled 4 lines last night so that should help.

Fun to have a competitive team again, can't wait to see a game in Alfond later this season.

Granted, it is only seven games into the season, but the PairWise Rankings have a new #1 team: the University of Maine Black Bears. The only other time I was able to find Maine at #1 in the PWR was October and November of 2006 when Maine started 7-0 before a tie against Boston University cost them the top spot. In 2003-04 Maine was tied for first much of the season but always lost tiebreakers to North Dakota and/or Boston College. The PWR history goes back to the 2003-04 season.

I know this differs from the games announced 3 stars ..but my take and there were many others who could have been...but my 3: 1.Ostman-- 2.Houle--3.Josh Nadeau....you know the other Nadeau .

Congrats guys. Remember who told you Coach Barr would have his boys near the top of HEA before the games started.

I might have the 4th line as my number 3, they played great.

Well I guess you guys showed them! With no UNH hockey this weekend watched your game...very impressed bet the place was crazy.
Just goes to show you what coaching and a few decent recruits can do, not to mention a great goal tender. And there's something about playing
up there lol...glad we see you at the 'Whitt! :-)

Well tonight oughta be a lot like game 2 at the Q. BC will have to throw the kitchen sink and even the outhouse at Maine to salvage something out of this weekend. I say ef 'em. Make them eat beans :-) ....all this chit making me think like I wonder what tix Tampa to Boston in March might look like, and accommodations....who knows, eh?

I did not expect the Nadeau’s to be this effective 5 on 5. Josh has incredible talent with the puck, he has the puck on a string. He always seems to be able to make a move to find space. Breen with those guys is such a unique combination, even with all the talent on the ice last night, that was the most dynamic line.

Trudeau is also gaining confidence and becoming very effective down low…all 4
lines are developing a character of their own which spells great things going forward and a nightmare for opposing coaches to match.
Wonder who “!!!Chris” morphed into amongst the BC faithful…..

Was just in Tampa area, weather was perfect, far too many people :)

I might even break out the old Maine hat with my favorite pins on it tonight. It does get heavy by the time we leave the Alfond….
