North Dakota fall of 2010 in terms of quality of opponent, both ranked teams, and buzz. The Alfond was a zoo that weekend. One of my favorites since post 2007 era.

That series was so fun. Robby Dee scoring a minute in on Friday night really set the tone for the whole weekend.

Its freakin' November, how big can they be. Certainly aren't that big for BC other than a league opponent. Maine fans think its big and again its a league game so it is in that respect. Beating a team with a roster full of not only draft picks but many 1st round picks would be great.

Getting something out of this weekend would be great and a huge bonus, but with the nature of the league this year every league game is going to be difficult and important. If Ostman has a really good game and/or BC’s goalie struggles Maine definitely could have some success. I suspect after last year BC will want to pay Maine back.

Maine getting 0/6 points would be a disappointment, in my opinion. I can't realistically hope for more than 3, but I think they are easily capable of winning once this weekend.

Like Wally said, it’s only November. Maine is still attempting to climb the ladder and beating the top of the ladder would be nice, but it’s the middle rungs of that ladder (like Merrimack) that is at this stage of the season is the focus.
That said, after many years of following college hockey, and as I have said before, just because a TEAM is loaded with blue chippers doesn’t mean they are unbeatable. Sometimes when you load up on recruits who were previously high scorers at the Jr levels, they don’t always mesh as a team consistently. We’ve seen it many times in witnessing the “forcing” of plays, etc.

No shame if maine gets zip. Bc is loaded with talent, realistically the better team day in and day out. But getting 3 points is not out of the realm of possibilities. Maine has to have their minds in the game, play 110% and get excellent goaltending, with BC having an off night from their potential. Very possible. Should be fun anyhow if the games are good.

Maine has beaten many BC teams, most of them on paper had more talent than Maine. On paper BC has way more talent than this Maine team. If Duda was playing Maine still wouldn't be as loaded as BC is.

The PairWise Rankings don't care about the calendar. "Last 16" hasn't been a criteria since dinosaurs roamed the planet. The games this weekend will be just as relevant to the PairWise as the Hockey East Championship.

ESPN says Boston College is #1 but they also told me Merrimack was #20 so I know better than to believe it.

ESPN also says women's hockey plays #12 UConn at 2pm today and tomorrow. If true, and BC is also ranked, then it's the first time Alfond Arena has hosted ranked teams on the same weekend. Maybe.

The women's soccer team makes the program's first appearance in the NCAA tournament with a game at #4 seed Harvard. All these games will be televised on ESPN+.

Actually think the Q series was the best measure of this teams ability. Good team away from home. A split there told them something about where they stand. I think beating BC at Alfond is very doable.

You didn't understand the question? I figured it was easy to digest in regard to this looking like Maine's best team in over a decade.

Valid point but BC is 7-1 so that potential issue hasn't shown itself yet anyway.

Now if only Brown would start pitching water coolers onto the ice tonight or take a stick across the nose on the bench, we’d be back to the good ol’ times. For the “youngins”,
BU’s coach Jackie P did both.

Biggest reason I think Maine takes at least 3 points this weekend is the Alfond. This is a really tough roadtrip for a young team. I don’t think BC will be phased by it given that they beat quinnipiac on banner night but to me it’s hard to imagine Maine not taking one of these games.
