Is chickOD talking to CornellFan13 referencing someone else?

* jumping into the fray with my English-to-Maine translation services *

chickod is clearly telling CornellFan13 that despite CF's claims that people (including the Colgate kid) are jumping to conclusions about how Cornell plays the same boring hockey as usual without even so much as watching this year's team, chickod can vouch for the proposition that the Colgate kid is correct, because chickod has seen Cornell in person regularly for several years against his BU team at MSG, and nothing's changed.

You're welcome. Hopefully that toothache you've got is doing better, too.

Also last year's Manch regional.

When Cornell plays hyper talented teams like BU, obviously they’re going to try to slow the game down. Playing firewagon hockey with BU is a recipe for disaster. Cornell taking away the middle of the ice, disrupting BU in the neutral zone, and staying back on defense is just good strategy. Clearly, it works: despite the massive talent disparity between the two teams, in the last decade matchups between Cornell and BU have been very even.

Does this make Cornell “boring”? 50 or so other teams in college hockey would execute the same strategy if they could. Quinnipiac plays the same way. Maybe those teams are therefore boring too. The difference is that Cornell is disciplined enough to pull it off.

When Cornell isn’t playing BU they aren’t as tentative. In any case, sounds like people are just complaining because Cornell plays sound defense. There is plenty of skill on Cornell too, but the team is always built on playing strong defense. And Cornell absolutely is not “dirty.” It’s notable that the people ragging on Cornell just *happen* to support two of their biggest rivals. Isn’t that curious?

Go touch some grass my guy.

Thought about staying for saturday game but just couldn't imagine what there is to do in springfield for two days between games.

Besides the Basketball Hall of Fame there is the Springfield Armory National Historic Site, The Springfield Museums with includes a great Dr Seuss sculpture garden with all 5 museums under a single ticket, Forest Park and the MGM casino. Nearby you have the Volleyball Hall of Fame in Holyoke, Mt Tom or Skinner State Park for a wonderful view from on top the Valley. Sugarloaf Observation a little further north and Yankee Candle is always an interesting take in. Less than an hour away you have the Berkshires and all they have to offer such as the Norman Rockwell museum and The Edith Wharton House which offers free entry to the beautiful grounds. There is more than enough to keep you busy.

I think a sports bar would work for most, this way they can watch the other games.

Looks like one at the MGM Casino with a lot of tvs. Another one that looks decent is called Sophie’s.

Maine fans, don’t worry about running into Cornell fans, they will be long gone by Friday afternoon. Tssk tsssk.

What are you doing wasting time in here?

You have a lot to do. What with running the committee for the end of the UNH hockey season banquet with a banner raising ceremony for sweeping Maine on home ice. Preparing MS7’s speech themed “Desperation” where he encapsulates the spirit of UNH hockey team. Then you need to schedule several podcasts for MS7 to discuss how well UNH did and how he earned every penny of that extension. All whilst keeping an analytical eye on the transfer portal.

Time is money, now get to it… chop, chop

What are you doing wasting time in here?

Studying the lower depths of the human gene pool, and less complex single-cell life forms (i.e. you).

It's been a fascinating case study so far. Please, just continue as you are. I'll let you know when the report is done.

Finally popping in after attending Friday's game. That was the worst thing I have watched in a long time. We couldn't pass, couldn't softly catch a pass, couldn't manage a breakaway without fumbling the puck, couldn't outskate a single Terrier. It was painful. Sure some terrible calls went their way (one offsides in particular where the puck wasn't even halfway into the line), but we were going to lose regardless playing like that. Too late to work on conditioning and faster legs, but we need to practice our handling and passing this week.

Seen alot of what you mention here all season, some games more than others. Fridays play was actually on the better side of things comparatively imo. They have come a long way, still a ways to go yet.

Good list. Problems are casino is a definite no, wife wont go to the sports hall of fames, and museums are low on the list. A run over to the berkshires is a good idea though. Sports bar fits in at any town, but thats only good for a couple hours most.

Excellent ideas! Also, north on Rte 5 along with Yankee Candle is the Historic Deerfield village and museum and a Tree House Brewery, creators of some of the finest craft beers anywhere. Along Rte 5 north in Holyoke is a wonderful roadside reservation where several species of theropod dinosaur tracks are persevered in 200-million-year-old sandstone, all free to observe; just look for parking along the northbound side of the road along the Connecticut River. There are also lots of upscale eateries, theatres, and live music venues in Northampton, a few minutes north of Holyoke.

Cool, good stuff, the dinosaur tracks would be a definite.

Your wife might like the Lee outlets. They are right off the exit for the Berkshires. One other recommendation I would make is Arrowhead in Pittsfield. It’s the house where Melville lived when he wrote Moby Dick.
