Cornell hockey has an entire forum: Elf.ELynah.com.

This was not quite the own you thought it was.

Well maybe your gang should stay over there lol

I’ve watched Cornell a lot this year thanks to ESPN+ and no doubt they’re a good team. They’re going to be a tough matchup for Maine but at this point in the year everyone is good. Really fast and gritty from the games I watched. I haven’t seen the goonery they were always known for back in the day. Also, Ian Shane is an excellent goalie.

I wanted to compliment their fans but their nonstop posting on our thread has me thinking they’re all like Andy Bernard.

Well this devolved quickly. All I have for thoughts is, no fan, of any team, ever thinks their own team is dirty. I also don't have a problem with fans defending their team from such accusations, but it's important to keep in mind. I have not seen the Big Red play this season, so I can't make any judgments on their playstyle. I will be there on Thursday though, so I'm sure I'll have plenty of thoughts regardless of the outcome. All I want to see is a good, well-played game (and of course I'd prefer a Maine victory).

First, they're dirty. Next, they bend the rules. Then, they're boring to watch. The funny thing is that from reading all these posts, it's clear nobody in this thread has seen Cornell play in the last decade (except for the one Colgate fan, who hates us). It's strange to see all the posters here immediately turn to outdated tropes to criticize a team none of them have even watched. Nobody on the Cornell forum is jumping to discredit Maine or its success. It's not a great look for the Maine fanbase that their very first instinct is to try to discredit Cornell's success without knowing a single thing about the team.

Went back and watched Cornell's last loss against Union. Common opponent that Maine beat in Schenectady back in Dec so gives me a decent barometer between the two teams.

I'm sure I'll find time over the next couple nights to watch Cornell/Dartmouth game from last Friday. Will also be nice to see how they looked in a game where things were clicking against a team that Maine also walloped.

If I were Barr I'd definitely use some of this tape because I think Union countered the physical play well and their forecheck was disruptive to what Cornell wanted to do. I liked how disciplined their d-pairings were when Union would push them but the type of layered forecheck that Maine has used often this year would definitely cause some problems (Union's GWG was a good example of this).

Was definitely a winnable game for Cornell, but they looked a lot like Maine did against BU on where they just couldn't get another one past Chauvette. I don't really think Cornell took any more liberties than what most teams do. They took a couple penalties they probably want back and Union made them pay both times on the PP.

If there's one thing I learned in this thread, it's that Maine fans as dumb as rocks. Sad too, because it's a fun atmosphere up there.

Question - which program has put more players in the NHL over the last 15 years? Answer: It's not Maine.

I watch games from all over the country. Those Maine fans saying what they are about Cornell - clearly don't have the slightest clue about hockey.

But hey - enjoy the game fellas.

Are all of you clowns this insufferable?

I honestly have nothing against the University of Maine. Maine is a beautiful state, particularly the part where the university is located. I also like the black bear mascot. I certainly prefer Maine to most of the other Hockey East schools. It's just weird to see a bunch of people on a forum trashing your team for totally misinformed reasons without ever watching them play.

Anyway, carry on. Should be a good game this weekend.

Well, as a BU fan who has seen them play every other year at Red Hot Hockey at MSG, he’s right.

Calafiore had 159 PIM in NAHL last season. He's definitely not the same type of player as either of those two but you can see from his game that he's a bit of an agitator so wonder if with more consistent ice time next year we'll see more of that side of his game.

He's not close to those two...he is a high energy player...but he gets banged around like a rag-doll...he is a small player that looks to be a pest on the fore-check 4th line type next season..don't see him as a banger that will scare anyone...and he is another player that needs to get stronger during the off season.

On the Cornell analysis....bottom line Barr & Co. are going to be ready to play Thursday...can image they have dissected film and Barrs connections over the years will have Cornell scouted to be ready...what really counts is there playing meaningful hockey...myself I am hoping for a up tempo game...and again,Boija has to be at the top of his game.

I can’t see how he plays this year

???...he has played in 19 games for Maine so far.
I know , my point is he gets knocked off puck too easily. I wonder if Neimo will get his spot against Cornell?

To all the Cornell defenders, we understand you love your team. We know they are good or they wouldn’t be playing in the tourney. As a Maine fan I feel it’s a bad matchup based on what I’ve seen happens when Maines plays a physical team, see February games. I will say Barrs lineup changes late has helped that issue. Every game in tourney time is going to be tough, no gimmes so we shall see who is ready to go the extra mile and which coach has a plan to overcome the other teams weakness.

Ok..on that..but figure he will be in the lineup...Neimo would not be a bad add either...instead of Dalton..imo.

Finally popping in after attending Friday's game. That was the worst thing I have watched in a long time. We couldn't pass, couldn't softly catch a pass, couldn't manage a breakaway without fumbling the puck, couldn't outskate a single Terrier. It was painful. Sure some terrible calls went their way (one offsides in particular where the puck wasn't even halfway into the line), but we were going to lose regardless playing like that. Too late to work on conditioning and faster legs, but we need to practice our handling and passing this week.

Interesting take… I’m more inclined to say just the opposite.
