Oh Lordy - Anybody listening to the UMass - Mack game? The play by play guy sounds autistic. I always knew Hanagan was good, but these two guys are frighteningly bad. The good news? UMass up 1-0.

I'm talking about the Umass radio guys.

Lowell wins, Maine's slim chance at 3rd is gone by the boards. It'll be 4 or 5.

With 5:30 left UMass leads Merri-hack 3-1. Slim chance at home ice is alive....c'mon U M-***.....

The UMass game is ovah. Win tomorrow and we got home ice????? Please reinforce for me.

Re: UMaine - 2011-2012 Season Thread (cont) - Beating Back the Internuts ?

It's going to be Maine vs. Merrimack. If Maine beats UNH, its in Orono no matter what. If Maine ties, they need a Merrimack loss or tie to host; If Maine loses, they need Merrimack to lose outright.

Re: UMaine - 2011-2012 Season Thread (cont) - Beating Back the Internuts ?

Just glanced at the HE standings and realized that this team could/should be sitting in first right now if they had won 3 very winnable games against 3 very winnable opponents in the last 3 weeks. These guys need to bring that sense of urgency every game, every period, every shift. They shouldn't be on the bubble right now in danger of their season ending in a week. It'll be interesting to see which team shows up; the finesse, pretty boy team, or the gritty, blue collar team? Are they going to bring it this Sat, or let UNH outwork, out compete and play grittier in their house?

There is not a team in the league that would not say the same thing about a game here or there. But here is what we know, win tomorrow and get home ice, and for now that is all that matters.

The game tomorrow should be a Play-off atmosphere. NESN covering the game! It should be a lot of fun, cannot wait! A lot on the line!

I listened to MC for a few minutes but turned it off. It was between periods. I don't know who they were interviewing, but the PbP guy kept asking, in different ways, about the Maine-MC series and the interviewee kept saying, in different ways, that it didn't matter if it was there or in Alfond, MC was going to win because Maine sucks. Very annoying.

Maine will fall in the pairwise tonight as Northern Michigan won its playoff game. If Anchorage gets a win or tie against Bemidji, they're #11. BSU wins on the road then Michigan State passes them as well and they drop to #12.

Unfortunately, students are on break.:( I hope there is still a good contingent that will attend.

I just checked online, and there are only 7 seats available in the entire arena. Even I might make the trek to Orono tomorrow...weather and health depending...

Absolutely, every team in the league (with perhaps Vermont) has lost games that prevented them from finishing higher than they did. Such is the competitive nature of Hockey East. Almost every team had some very nice wins followed by disappointing losses.

Re: UMaine - 2011-2012 Season Thread (cont) - Beating Back the Internuts ?

Maine is right where it needs to be: win at home tomorrow against their fiercest rival, and next week's 1st-round is in Orono. Everything is aligned for Maine to go out and earn it, if they can.

This is as good a litmus-test for the program as we've seen in a while. It might not be a "must-win" re: the PW, but it appears to be pretty close to that... A perfect opportunity for Timmy and the boys to make a statement.

Should be a great game in stunning HD on the NHL Network (locally). I'll have to DVR the dam* thing and watch it in the wee hours after work, but I'll be happy to have stayed up half the night to see it, if the final result suits me

....And, I'm predicting a Maine win. I do believe that I detect a slight change in how they're coached.

GO BLUE!

You'd think Maine would smoke UNH today. We need a win and they, doesn't really matter other than pride. No students means quiet time in Alfond.

I hope Maine realizes that UNH has a chance to screw us out of home ice for the quarters, so they will most likely play us like they want it! Today will tell me a lot about what this team is made of.

Well here we go. In control of their own destiny. This game is on the players. Timmay no Timmay, the boys need to step up and win this for themselves esp vs UHN.

Yea on the face of things it would appear we have alot more to play for than they do. But, I do think UNH is a better team than their sub 500 record would indicate. They have some very quick dangerous players who thrive on transition. They will give Lowell all they can handle in a first round matchup, as it now appears.

not a pairwise guru, but maine is still very vulnerable.... NU, UNH, and UMass could all fall out as TUC with bad results either today or through a combination of today and the quarters....
