UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

I wonder how many of these students are Gopher fans who are just at St. Cloud for school.
I am of the opinion that you should support your school over anyone, even if you have been a fan of the opponent before you came here.
You're here now, show the support, or IMO, don't sit with the students if you aren't cheering for your school.
You're only asking for trouble supporting the Gophers from the SCSU student section.

I dunno, I like the idea of mixing it up. I have watched games in the UND and UW student sections, and those were fun and interesting times

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

From what I heard, all the student tickets were gone by noon the day they became available.

I don't like the online thing. You should have to get your tail out of bed at 7am and trudge down to the Hockey Center and get your tickets like your forefathers did. That way you weed out the fair-weather fans who only go to the Gopher series. Darn kids these days with their social networks and Hot Pockets and Moby Grape.

No kidding. I got up early to get my tickets in previous years. The fact that the more students have the opportunity to get their tickets much faster widens the possibility that the more causal fan get their ticket faster than the hardcore fan. Of course, just for the hell of it I tried getting my Gophers series student tickets during the time the Whioux tickets opened up, and apparently it worked. In fact, there was a whole student section sold out for Gophers games already when I did it. So I guess I didn't have to worry about it this year.

Having the opposing teams fans in the Dog or Puppy pound is usually just annoying. If you go to school here and are a fan of the visiting team, fine. But don't sit in the Huskies cheering student sections if you're not cheering for the Huskies. If I went to the U of M, I wouldn't make noise for the Huskies in the Gopher student section.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Looks like Saturday is "sold out," with possibility of some seats being made available in morning at 9am

Gotta disagree. If someone can sit through the game in the opposing team's student section and take the heat, then more power to them. We took a lot of flack in Grand Forks but it was a lot of fun.

Thank you. Mankato had years of this to deal with with me. :)

I took the heat, gave some back, and somehow managed to avoid getting hit.

Whatever. That happens in every rink around the country. People are free to do what they want, and if they happen to be a student of one school but a fan of another, that's their prerogative of how they want to attend a game. Lord knows there are a good number of Sioux fans in the student section at Mariucci when UND comes to town. They take a lot of ****, but I think they know what they are getting into.

I'd say pull the stick out of your ***...

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Minnesota doesn't track blocked shot stats so I didn't put it up there.
The only obvious matchups is SCSU's 1st line matches up with UofM's 2nd line and SCSU's 2nd line matches up with UofM's 1st line (size, speed, style of play).
Morley could easily be moved to center 3rd or 4th line moving Rehkamp or Milan to wing.
BLKS -SCSU Total 296 28 games avg's 10.57 blocks per game Dowd 38, Prochno 36, Jensen 25, Gravel 22, Daly 20, Prow 18, Rabey 15 and Leblanc 11 (3 players have 8, the rest below)
BLKS- SCSU's Opponents Total 367 28 games avg's 13.1 blocks per game

Maybe I was tempting fate, but I never woke up early to get a ticket. I either went down to the ticket office at 10 or 11am or gave my ID to a friend to get me a ticket. Seeing someone with 12 IDs getting tickets for half their dorm floor was a regular occurence.

Re: UM @ SCSU: Everything this series should be

Game Day Finally!!

Two really good teams matched up this weekend. Predicting a split between the two but I hope the Huskies can pull out more then two points.

Gotta disagree. If someone can sit through the game in the opposing team's student section and take the heat, then more power to them. We took a lot of flack in Grand Forks but it was a lot of fun.

I don't know. I was at the Friday SCSU-UND game this year in the Dog Pound and had to listen to a SCSU female student, who usually cheers for the Huskies, SCREAM for UND. I think she was being purposely loud just to get attention/under people's skin. I came in being ambivalent about who would win, but after 5 minutes of listening to her scream in my ear about Kristo, I was rooting for the Huskies.

If you're going to go to a student section and cheer reasonably then fine, but don't be someone who is purposefully obnoxious.

I'm just saying if you are dumb enough to sit in the student section wearing opposing colors, especially if you attend the school, you deserve what you get short of assault or physical violence.
It's just asking for trouble, and maybe risking someone shoving a stick up your ***.

I hear the Gophers have some local talent too:

Mark Alt - St. Paul
Seth Ambroz - New Prague
Nick Bjugstad - Blaine
Travis Boyd - Hopkins
Zach Budish - Edina
Seth Helgeson - Faribault
Justin Holl - Tonka Bay
Christian Isackson - Pine City
Ben Marshall - Mahtomedi
AJ Michaelson - Apple Valley
Jake Parentau - Franconia
Kyle Rau - Eden Prairie
All three Reilly's - Chanhassen
Nate Schmidt - STC
Brady Skjei - Lakeville
Adam Wilcox - South St. Paul

Also a handful of other players who haven't really played this year.
